I have the 8" and with winter gear - backpack etc - I'd guess I weigh about 210lbs. These definitely help with avoiding post holing - a real energy drain.

Denali is a great snow snowshoe

I replace a pair of snowshoes with the Denali shoes this fall. The bindings are simple, easy to put on and "sure".

I felt a little concern about the plastic, though I did replace a set of poly-carb shoes which worked okay but had an inferior binding. My concern seems to have been for not. The shoes seem durable and really light and easy to track. I weigh in at 155 and only use the 4" tails though.

The different length tails (which are now on different pages) represent floating capability. Your weight combined with the carried weight can help you determine just how long your snowshoe should be. A snowshoe too long for you will be herky, while a snowshoe which is too short will leave you post-holing through the snow.

Got these for my Denali Classic snowshoes and love them. Really great flotation, noticeable difference when compared to the snowshoes without on powder.
