    Does Not Nest

Before ordering, I was told by a Backcountry rep that the size medium would nest into the MSR 1.6L Pot. Received today, and right on the label, it says I would need a 3.2-3.3L Pot for it to nest. They don't even nest within themselves. Totally bummed that I wasted time and money getting these. I will keep to put in my camper, but these definitely won't be going on backpacking/kayaking trips, as planned.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

When you are thinking of a camping plate you don't think about having a sidewall since you are just thinking about having a normal plate. But when you want chili or any kind of meal that can be very saucy or a soup this is the perfect combo. I love these and would highly recommend them for any camper.

      Great Plate!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this because I needed a good camping plate. It is lightweight and packs well in my pack. I travel a lot for work and it also works perfectly for eating when I'm living in hotel rooms. Definitely recommend getting this if you need a plate!

      Sturdy but limited nesting options

I bought two of these (size small) to place in my Quick 2 pot set. These plates surround the smaller of the two pots (one on top, one on bottom), then the whole group fits in the larger pot. Store what you want in the smaller pot. The plates do not nest inside of each other, which may bother some people.

        Mediocre

I bought one each of S, M & L sizes thinking they would stack effeciently with my existing cookset. They don't.

The difference in size is about 1" of diameter between each plate. Perhaps they compliment the MSR pots better than when used just as a bunch of plates or when paired with other brands of pots.

They are made out of a thin polypropylene that seems durable and the back states they are good for up to 220 degrees F.

          could be better

I expected better design coming from MSR.

One plate nests inside (or outside, depending on pot/plate size) pots just fine. However, this is possible with only one single plate. Plates of the same size have straight walls that are not tapered at the bottom, making it impossible to stack multiple plates inside each other. Maybe MSR will get it right with the next version...

            Plate material is durable enough.

Plate works great as a bowl or plate, eliminating the need to carry both.

            4 stars on material/durability.
            2 stars on shortsighted design.

            Large version

This thing works great. Big enough for any meal and the high sides mean you can squirm around to get comfortable when sitting on the ground without spilling. It nests with my GSI frypan nicely too. Works as a lid for the frypan as well, though the bottom of the plate says its rated to only 220F so I only used it while it was heating up, not once it was close to up to temp. A higher temp rating and this would get a full five stars.

Do these MSR Deep Dish Plates stack or nest, one inside of the other? If so, how high would a stack of three dishes be?
