become a backcountry chef
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This is one of those things you never realize you needed until you have it. It makes preparing meals in the backcountry so much easier thank to a cutting board that doesn't take up a ton of room and plenty of tools that, while perhaps not necessary, make life a lot easier. Plus, those bottles ensure I always have oil and hot sauce on deck, which, frankly, is the most important part.
its all in one place
good to have
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I usually tend to just use a bit of tinfoil, a old beer box, and my trusty knife for anything I've had to do around the campsite as far as kitchen tools go. I never thought I would use this set as much as I actually did. From everything from setting up hobo dinners, to making eggs and bacon in the morning, I constantly found myself using this setup more and more around the campfire. Keeps everything in it's place and as a lot of others have said it makes for super easy pack organizing. For all your kitchen setup needs it's a purchase non will regret making, and doesn't add much at all to your pack weight or size. Throw it in your cup or whatever you have that's already taking up space in your pack that you could throw this in.
To look at my desk, dresser drawers, or truck, one would never guess how organized my pack is. That was the main reason I purchased this item. Things have got to have a place when you are living out of a bag. Everything works good and cleans up nicely. The way this thing rolls up is also nice. Overall a great piece of gear that is just the right size. Could have probably saved a couple of bucks by rigging something up on my own but now I don't have to go through any of that. Just reach in the pack and pull this out, undo the little clip, unroll it and start cooking. Things being easy is worth a lot. Ken
Better food, happier campers
I was slightly skeptical looking at this set, thinking it would be overkill. However, it has proved invaluable already after one trip. It's a little bulky, even rolled up without the cutting board, but unless you're going solo, it makes group meals much nicer. Cleans up easily, fairly light, versatile.
