    Start prepping dinner.

The MSR Alpine Deluxe Kitchen Set makes it so you can film your own cooking show in the backcountry. After you get your camping stove fired up, open up the Deluxe's zippered case and grab your utensils. Dice up some onions with the Alpine Kitchen Knife on the Alpine Deluxe Cutting Board, throw them in your MSR pot with some oil from one of your two squeeze bottles. Stir them around with the Alpine Folding Spoon or the Spatula. Add some salt and pepper from the moisture-resistant BPA-free spice shakers, and crack open a bottle of wine with the bottle opener/cork screw. After you've finished eating, scrape your pots with the Alpine Dish Brush/Scraper and collect the last of your micro-trash with the strainer. You can use the PackTowl to dry things off before you pack up the bear-hang. Folded dimensions: [L x W x H] 9 x 6 x 2.75in

    mostly good

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I recently purchased this kit to pass on as a gift, having thought about it for some time.
My initial thoughts are positive. I keep the folding spatula and 2 folding spoons in my Jetboil Frypan as I prefer those to the Jetboil ones. I have 2 spoons as I drilled drain-holes on one which leads me to the few suggestions.
First, the salt/pepper shaker is almost useless. It is too bulky for it's capacity and can hold enough for maybe one meal. Make a larger and flatter container for these spices.
Second, add a second spoon with drain-holes.
Third, add a stirring spatula or flat spoon(?) .

    Great light addition

This set is great to pack light and hit the trail. Everything you need is included including extra storage space for other kitchen gear. Would highly recommend if your packing for long backcountry trips

Highest quality cooking kit out there

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

After 6 days in the backcountry, I can say confidently that relying on freeze dried meals sucks. This kit is my start to finding some better ways to feed myself from backpacking to car camping. I agree with pat that the case it comes in is not backpack worthy, but you typically wont bring everything that is included on a backpack trip, only what is necessary. For car camping, the case is ideal. Eat well!

      everything you need

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This set is great for making any meal you want in the back country. It has everything you need. It is a little bulky and it would be nice if it was in a soft case so it could collapse some or expand depending on your needs for that trip. I take things out I am not going to need for a trip then I might keep other things I am taking with me in the case such as my eating utensils. its great but not for ultralighters

The other day while I was at REI I had a thought which turned out to be a great idea. I went over to the travel section and found a small toiletries bag and moved the contents of this kit to that bag and it now fits a lot better into my pack and even has room to collapse a bit.

      Comprehensive but bulky

Received this as a gift. The entire set would be great for car camping, but I've paired it down to the "essentials" to include in my backpacking mess kit for the wife and I. The case it comes in is strong, but quite bulky.
