Get the spoon

Every extra long titanium spoon I have seen used has turned out to be too awkward to properly pack in a decent UL kit. Dump you freeze dried food in a zip top freezer bag and you won't need a third arm to eat. The MSR Alpine Collapsible spoon however will let you dig down to the last morsel of chow while still fitting in almost any beer can pot or uber light cook kit you can come up with. Unless you try gorilla weight leverage with the thing this spoon will do the trick without caving at the moment of truth. Get more than one. You won't regret it.

Great alternative to 9" titanium

I've been using a 9" titanium spoon. The only problem with those is storage. The MSR folding spoon is a perfect replacement. Weighs about the same, unfolded it's the same length, yet I can store it easily in my 400 ml titanium pot, along with my stove. Highly recommend it. Excellent product.

Like it.

After breaking two of the Light My Fire spoon/fork combos I was ready to try something else as my backpacking utensil. This one was great. The extra length helps with mixing some of the freeze dried meals without sticking your hand in the food. When folded it fits in my backpacking cup, which protects it - something I couldn't do with the Light My Fires. It cleans off easily. A couple of times it folded up on me unexpectedly, but eventually I just learned how to use it differently to avoid the fold-up.

What's Fonzie like?

foldable?...check. lightweight?...check. can use them to eat food stuffs?...check. got the spoon and the fork because because most sporks suck as forks. the colors on this website are a little off. the orange is a little darker and less yellow. but who really cares what color their eating utensils are? i am not trying to win the award for coolest utensil. when unfolded, they are a couple-three inches longer than the forks and spoons in your drawer at home. makes them good for stirring down deep in the pot to prevent sticking (which is why i bought them). they are all plastic, and i was a bit worried about the hinge holding up with heavy use, but those worries so far seem to be unfounded. no problems with melting when in contact with the bottom of the pot, but i have not held them over an open flame (which i am assuming is not their intended use anyway). no complaints. for 5 chucks, i will buy them again if they ever fail.

great product

Been using these for a year, and very intensely with my three kids, ages 6,8,10. Colors ended the arguments about "who stole my fork, spoon!". Lightweight, very packable, easy cleanup. Con: pain to keep track of two utensils for everyone. That being said, I hate sporks.

I only need the spoon with the food I eat in the backcountry. It feels pretty much weightless and is easy to clean. It is kind of a long spoon which is nice for stirring up those freeze dried meals. Works great with Guyot Designs Squishy bowls.

$4.95 for just a spoon, or $4.95 for just a fork...it's not a full set.

These are ok but I would prefer a sork just to save weight. When they fold up they are very small and easy to pack but you have to carry 2 a spoon and a fork. I would prefer one like this but both

You know, there is an MSR spork available on this site.
