You may have never heard of Movement Skis, but the magazines and review crews have, and they're spreading the good word like gospel. The Thunder is Movement's all-mountain multipurpose model, perfect for blazing tight trees, dropping steep chutes and railing out through chopped up fields of crud on your way back to the tram. Okume and poplar in the center core are flanked by beechwood rails, for a seemingly impossible combination of light weight and stiffness. The Thunder is one of those rare skis that cries out to be pushed as hard as possible and keeps coming back with tenacious grip and ferocious speed—let's just say that you had better be ready to take it to the limit.

Bottom Line: These all-mountain expert planks may be light, but they come with the thunder.

Fun, Snappy, Damp!

Last night a storm rolled into Northern Utah, accompanied by lightning. By 9am this morning, the resorts were reporting 18" of new. I got out on these boards, and was very impressed. I dropped right in for some faceshots, and the 177's felt great! (I'm 5'10", 145lbs) Very nimble in the trees. When you get back to the catrack, these things rail, holding a great edge! After things got a bit skied out, the Thunders continued to impress, blasting through crud. They deflected nicely, and I didn't get bounced around, they just powered through the choppy stuff. They've got plenty of pop too, when you want to boost a roller. This is a 1 ski quiver. All in all, very fun skis! Not too wide, does it all- Great little rippers! Although I've got them setup with Alpine bindings, this skis versatility would make it a great backcountry stick.

I love 'em!

just got mine last friday, and used them for great east-coast powder day. snow was knee deep in the trees,a nd these are so light-yet-powerful. they make me look like a hero. i have read reviews talking about how stiff these are, but i have little reference, as they are my first skis approaching twin-tip profile. these seemed right for me, as i never hit the park, but spend lots of time on edge on groomers, and hit untracked trees whenever the snow flies. after two great snowy days on these, i trust them in tight, steep stuff, and like them all around.

i am a 37-year-old, who skis 50 days per year. i am strong, 175lbs, and form is good. was looking for something new, different, and fun. went for the 177, and found a new favorite for any day there's new snow.
