Easy Access

I like this bag for the every day trip, but could have a little more beef so it could be used for a longer day hikes. However, I love all the little storage pockets and there is enough room for a leans and accessories. The zippers are solid and easy to operate and the padding is enough to hold the camera like a 5D safe yet easy to access.

Lots of space and good for hiking but a lot bigger than I thought. Good quality though.

Water resistant. It's best to have a small pack cover on hand.

Great Camera Bag Plus

By:
January 8, 2010

Gave this to my daughter for the holidays and we promptly went on a week's ski trip with it. There was plenty of room for her DSLR and an extra lens. Plenty of room for accessories as well. The upper compartment has space enough for an extra layer, water bottle, snack, etc. The cool feature about this bag is that you can swing it around in front of you, and the camera "pocket" folds out like a tray allowing quick access to the camera without laying the bag on the snow. It's stealth factor is good too, looks like a regular ol' bookbag, not a pack holding $$$ worth of camera gear. Cheers.

I purchased this for my aunt for Christmas and she loved it. It has a ton of room for her camera and lenses as well as a padded pocket for her laptop.

Larger than Mountainsmith specs state

By:
June 16, 2010

Mountainsmith makes quality products and this bag is no exception. However, buyers should be aware that the stated dimensions are incorrect. The actual dimensions are 19x14x9 (not 18x11x9). This is Mountainsmith's error, not Backcountry's--I have seen the 2009 Mountainsmith catalog and it incorrectly states the bag's dimensions.

Awesome

It's padded and comfortable for all day treks. It does not look like a camera bag which makes it less of a burgler target. The top compartment holds lots of additional items such as lunch. The bottom compartment easily holds a canon rebel, an 18-55mm lens, a 55-250mm lens, the charger and caps (could also probably hold a couple filters).

Amazing Style & Storage

By:
April 22, 2009

I have nothing but praise for this bag. Plenty of storage. I was able to fit my DSLR body, lenses, laptop, accessories, & miscellaneous items. Very attractive style, looks like a regular backpack which deters camera thieves. My only complaint is the ventilation on the back. It got pretty warm on my back during day hikes. But I still love it. 4.75 Stars!
