Mountainsmith Dog Pack - 2008 BCS
Available Colors / Styles
Let your pup carry his own food, water, and treats in the Mountainsmith Dog Pack when you hit the trails. These well-fitting packs hold enough doggie grub for a full day of hiking, and are well balanced to carry just right. Soft padded straps and a well-vented top assure that your furry friend stays comfortable, and compression straps stabilize his load to keep him on his feet. Stash the leash in the top mesh pocket, and it'll be ready when you reach the trailhead. Hay, it has to happen sooner or later.
Bottom Line: If your dog likes backpacking, get him the Mountainsmith Dog Pack.

@ Ian Provo. I ordered the Large mountiansmith dogpack for my 110 pound english mastiff and the strap closest to the rear of the dog doesn't seem to fit correctly. I see that you have a large dog and ordered the large pack also. Do you have the same problem with your dog and if you do how did you fix it? Thanks

I just ordered the large pack for my 110 pound english mastiff and the rear compression strap is tightened all the way and it still is not tightened around her waist. The ribcage compression strap and the chest strap fit well. I would probably go with the medium if I were you. I attached a picture of the rear compression strap for you. Good buying!

I've tried just about all the dog packs out there, and this is the one I've settled on. I love compression straps for balancing out the loads. If you have a big dog, the large pack is perfect. My dog carried 20lbs of food over 30 miles no problem.

What size pack did you end up getting your Dog? It looks like a Cane Corso, I have a puppy 8month puppy corso and am not sure what size to get.

Very pleased! Pack will hold more than your pup cares to haul around, compression straps work great for holding extra cargo. design and materials have been holding up well. Straps have a lot of adjustment.

I bought a medium one for my 40 lb dog and a large one for my sister's Malamute 75 lb dog. The fit was excellent for both puppies and the Malamute definitely loved it whereas my Shepherd took some time getting used to it. I've used it 5 times and she has no trouble jumping around like a maniac with it on. The pack is easy to put on and stays level. I get many comments on her running around with it on!

I have been looking for packs for my Mastiff/Lab mix for a long time! I finally found the perfect pack!! McKinley is 9 yrs old and has never worn a pack. First time she had it on, I loaded it with only about 3 lbs, she wore it for an hour and loved it! She is 90 lbs and I got a medium for her. The bags are perfect size to hold her water and bowl plus, there is a inside zip pocket perfect for keys or cell phone. I love the mesh pocket on the outside. I would totally reccomend this pack to anyone looking for a great pack for your dog. I am so excited to be able to take her on longer hikes now where she can carry her own stuff!

I have had this pack for 3 months and have logged at least 100 miles with my German Shorthaired Pointer. This is the only thing (and the bike rides) that keep her sane. She requires miles of exercise daily and the pack weight helps wear her out. Otherwise she just does laps around our 2 acre yard all day. We have been building her up with about 10% body weight. So far the only problem is that the felt lining on the straps sometimes allows the excess tails to come out. Not a big deal and I am not going to cut them off. Very well balanced pack.
