Mountainsmith Cross Country 3.0 Backpack - 4302cu in - 2008 BCS

In my Opinion, for the money this pack is great. I have no regrets at all.
I agree with the post below in that, The water bottle holders do suck really bad.. when i have it packed full i have a hard time even getting snacks in and out of them. But it really isn't an issue since the pack has a built in hydration system so you just need to put a bladder in there and you're good to go. I guess if you didn't have room in your pack for a full bladder i have seen some water bottle holders that attach to the belt on a pack but i have never used them. The other thing that worried me was the material isn't the most rock solid i have ever seen. I haven't had anything super horrible happen yet but i do baby it, and i anticipate have to buy a new pack in a couple years. Other than that i really like the design and the comfort... it holds everything i need and the removeable hydration pack for shorter day hikes is way sick too. Like I said REALLY good pack for the PRICE.

I've had mine several seasons now, enough time to put it through the whole rigmarole. If you're gonna have one pack, let this be it. The pack bag is large and the support good, I wouldn't hesitate to use it for at least a week and I've loaded it with around 60 pounds of camera equipment and other gear. Not exactly comfortable at that weight, but not bad either. Even with the great capacity, it compresses down quite well for shorter trips, even overnights. The included day pack is excellent, I love being able to throw a few things in there and escape camp for a day hike, it really fits alot, more than just the essentials. The price is really good, so you do have to pay in a few other areas. Water bottle pockets are ridiculously tiny, almost worthless. I'm also a bit worried about the durability. Nothing on this pack looks made for years of abuse, but we'll see. Five stars for the price, not considering that I would give it three and a half or four.

i just spent 5 days in glacier national park with this mofo and it got me through some long, cold, damp and drizzly situations. everything stayed pretty dry. it is nice and easy to get on and off. it fit my torso pretty well, and it carried everything i needed with relative ease. the only complaints are that there could be a bit more pockets, my water bottles seemed to pop out whenever i bent over ( and the whole dern trail was infested with huckleberries, so we were doing alot of bending over) and it wasn't as brightly colored as i thought it would be. but all in all this bag was my buddy.

I returned this pack b/c I'm 5'9", 160 lb and my torso is 16.5 - 17" and I couldn't get the pack adjusted small enough (too much space b/t the shoulder straps and my shoulders even though I adjusted the torso as small as it would go). I did like the pack though and it wasn't too heavy, even I wish it had a more traditional opening to the sleeping bag compartment. I liked the slanted mesh pockets on the side for a water bottle, although my Nalgene bottle seemed like it could pop out fairly easily.

This pack is pretty good. I am a little disappointed by the suspension system, it doesn't allow for much adjustment of the load at the top of the shoulders. At six feet tall, the pack barely fits my frame.

On the upside the pack is quite roomy, and the front access zipper allows you to get at whatever you need. The sleeping bag divider on the bottom is not as useful as a front access built specifically for stowing your bag, but is great for separating dirty from clean, etc.

This is my first bag! I have used it quite a bit since I got it. This bag is rugged, and has everything you need in a bag at a wonderful price. Very comfortable once you get everything adjusted. As far as it being heavy I have never had another bag so it doesn't bother me a bit!

This pack is really great for the price. I'm 5'10, 155 pounds and it fits perfect once you take the time and adjust all the straps correctly. The hip belt is probably the best reason why is feels really snug and secure. The shoulder straps could be a little more comfortable.
