- Q & A
The Conifer 5 Plus tent is a base camp style tent with some amazing attributes to make your next family camping outing a true success. This two door outdoor hotel will comfortably sleep two adults, three kids, and the family dog with ease. With an interior 6'2" head height, and a whopping 83.5 sq ft of floor space, you'll forget you even left home. Step out onto the front porch vestibule and set up those lawn chairs because you've got 33 sq ft to work with; kick back and enjoy. Add in the value of our removable canopy shelf, ample storage pockets and set-up instructions printed on the stuff sack and you've got a 3 season family tent that performs way beyond it's price tag.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
The Conifer is huge! Over 6' in the center makes it easy to stand up, change and even get a single + double size air mattress inside to accommodate our family of 4 and dog (who tries to claim space on one of the beds but usually ends up on her Mountainsmith K9 Bed).
This thing has been through numerous family camping trips, backyard sleepovers and even guys river and desert trips and hasn't missed a beat. We've endured wind and rain and with the array of guy out points it's easy to get a tight set up and we've never had an issue with weather.
The huge vestibule is great for gear storage and could house 2-3 chairs easily if waiting out some rain in the campground.
The interior has a ton of deep, well laid out pockets for water bottles, head lamps, etc...anything you'd want easily accessible overnight.
If you're looking for a great/giant tent, the Conifer 5+ won't dissapoint!
A Good Family Tent
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I was a little wary after reading some reviews of this tent, but decided to go for it anyway. I was looking for something for easy family camping - backyard camping, car camping, camping in good weather. This tent is great for that. It's goes up pretty quickly and comes down quick too. I like how the poles are designed to just slide out of the clips.
cons: I'm not used to a tent this tall. The first couple times I set it up, I realized I forgot some clips and had to partially take things apart to redo it. The height also makes the fly more difficult to attach than it is on a smaller tent.
Also, I ordered the footprint to go with it. I'm not a fan of how the footprint is designed to cover the vestibule space as well. In one night of steady rain, we had a puddle in the tent from where it ran in an pooled in between the tent floor and the footprint. I guess that can be fixed with figuring out how to set it up better.
Overall, I love it as a nice and easy family tent. My main solo tent is a Sierra Designs. This is no S.D.!, but it is good for what I wanted out of it.
Love the set up and pole design. This is my first good tent (not Coleman). The poles slide effortlessly through the fly and as for setting up the tent itself, there are no pole holes the whole thing is clips. It FULLY fits in the back without rolling up snug... Im a crammer so it was nice to find that it wasn't neccwssary to roll and fold and struggle, take it down and stuff it in! If you unhook half the overhead storage pockets you can hang your iPad and watch a movie perfectly. The ventilation could use a little help over night but ending both the front and back first thing in the morning has it all dried off in no time. The front vestibule is a good size.
The tent fits two adults with a queen size air mattress, a large dog crate, a large dog bed (two 69 pound dogs) and all our gear with room to maneuver around. I stand 5'6" and do not touch the top, same in the vestibule.
