The Mountainsmith Basecamp Travel System makes car camping easier than ever with color-coded organization cubes and tie-down loops to secure it in your vehicle. Backpack straps allow you to park and hike directly to your campsite. Different sized cubes are designed to carry things like a tent, sleeping bag, and cooking essentials; and an easy-haul carry handle on each cube makes lugging stuff from the car to the campsite a cinch.

If you tend to haul lots of stuff relatively short distances, this is a great system. It sure beats loading up 3-5 smaller bags. I can see where it would be useful for car camping or any other activity where you have to organize and move a bunch of equipment. Personally, what I use it for is for all my fly-fishing equipment. Whereas I previously used a plastic tub, this bag has handles, and is big enough to handle anything I want to toss in it. I just grab the loaded bag out of my garage, and I am good to go.

I have love this modular system and have other Mountainsmith bags. My only wish was that it had the burly rubber foot print like my other bags but still love it. Put all my camping gear in there organized into different sections.

Great for car camping or if you need to haul all your junk for a short mile or so hike-in. The shoulder pads are not made for long distance, but it works in a pinch. Excellent for the price!
