The Mountainsmith Altura 1-Person 3-Season Tent makes an ideal lightweight shelter if you backpack solo or if you don't feel like getting romantic with your buddies in their 2-person tent. With 23 square feet (94 x 35in) of internal space and large divider pockets, there's plenty of space for you and your gear. Mountainsmith constructed the Altura's body out of breathable mesh polyester for a view of the stars if you sleep without the waterproof fly. If the weather looks iffy, throw on the PU coated rainfly and snooze away. We specially ordered this version of the Altura with a grommet on the rainfly so you can prop it open with a trekking pole for additional ventilation without compromising weather protection.
Bottom Line: Sleep solo for elbow room.

Just took this tent on a 4 day trek on Skyline in Jasper National Park. Although it's very light and easy to set up, it isn't free standing and is a real pain to get in and out of if you've got a stiff back from the previous day's hiking. The real problem I had with it is that you can't sit up or barely tilt up while inside. I'm average height (5'10) and fit inside nicely but found it a real pain to get dressed in the morning in the tent or getting in and out throughout the night when nature called. On the plus side it only accumulated a little bit of condensation and a quick shake in the morning got rid of it quick. Light and packs down very small.
