Description

Get a pair of pants that are made for life in the mountains.

Mountain Khakis makes pants that withstand tough trails and time-consuming commutes. The Men's Original Mountain Pant's 100% cotton canvas is woven from two-ply threads for strength and suppleness. All fabric is pre-washed and shrunk before sewing for a broken-in feel right off the rack. Triple-stitched seams and heavy-duty bar tacks hold everything together and are complemented by a brass zipper and riveted metal button. Cut with a gusseted crotch, these pants are ready for a life on rocks, trails, and streams, or–if you must–wear them to work. Multiple inseam lengths let you wear the pant that fits you and your lifestyle best.

Bought the Wrong Mountain Khakis Pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

My husband has a pair of Mountain Khaki pants that he loves - nice, comfortable fit, very soft fabric. He wanted another pair in a different color and I thought that's what I was buying. These pants are totally different - material is super stiff - even after several washings. More like Carharrt material. Great if you are looking for a solid work pant, but not good for a casual pant.

Sized right, look great.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

But as others have said really short from crotch to belt

Nuts

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

Only buy these pants if your nuts haven't dropped. Super short between the crotch and the belt line.

Everyday Mountain Man

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I wear these almost daily at my teaching job. They look good and feel good.

I have worn them a couple times upland hunting and cold weather fishing when the walks aren't too long. I wouldn't wear them on a long hike but for less strenuous activities they work well.

Throw a flannel on top and you are ready to hit the brewery

I'm a fan

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I like MK's but I have had issues in the past with sizing. They seem to allow a bit of shrinking and sometimes can ship a tad long. They are also loose fitting, but sometimes that's what I want. I tumble dry them to shrink them a bit and once they are the perfect size I hang dry them only. They are super tough and I think they look great. I have backpacked, climbed, hunted, fished, and wore them to the office.

Great everyday pant for a Carhartt fan

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I got these for my husband when his size was not available in his go-to pants, the Carhartt double-front pants. He LOVES them ... almost more than his former favorites. They're just as comfortable, durable, and good-looking; in fact, the design is probably a bit more versatile.

Ridiculously long

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

Great looking pants, sturdy, but seriously, this is 2014, and it's not that hard to properly sew a 34x32 pants. The bottoms were so bunchy on these they are a 38 inseam with any other major brand. I'm not just being picky, I have no idea how anyone in the world puts these on and says "those are 32" inseams" I showed them to my wife and she laughed, they're like clown pants big. It's too bad, but I'm not paying $80.00 for pants that don't fit. And I'm not going to waste my time ordering and reordering a pair until they fit.

Responded on

I love Mountain Khaki pants but I have noticed that they are VERY inconsistent with the sizes. I have had a 36 waist fit more loosely than a 38 and the inseam and bagginess in the butt can be all over the place in two pairs that are supposedly the same size. If you can't try them on in the store before buying them, it is a real crap shoot.

Durable as they come

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

I love these pants. They are not only comfortable, but super durable as well. If this was the only pair of pants that I owned, I would be okay with that.

Quality good ! sizing not so much.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Love the quality of these pants. The gusset in the crotch is a total bonus & the double fabric at the bottom of the pant leg is great. However if you happen to have a large rump or big quads these may be a little snug . I normally wear Carhartt work pants for my heavy duty work pants. I found MK's much softer feeling. They do seem to have a lower crotch but with the gusset that doesn't seem to be a problem. Would recommend these even if sizing is a little funky.

Good solid pants
Good solid pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

MK's seem to be a pretty solid pant all around. A bit stiff at first but after a few washes they are nice and comfy. Fairly expensive but they are durable. Waist runs slightly small.

Great pants, inconsistent sizing

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

I love these pants, great feel, not to baggy, and rugged. However, i recently ordered a second pair of the same size and was irked to find the same size was quite shorted than my previous pair. If you can get the sizing right, these pants will not disappoint.

Decent

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Decent Pants. Not quite Carhartt Build quality. but look more "presentable."

Decent pants, but price is a little high for value.

I have, and will buy again.

Be prepared to exchange/return

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

The waist was close to being true to size. Maybe just slightly small in that area. The inseam for me (30") was pretty long though. The crotch on this model is fairly low and may be the reason for that. I also ordered a pair of the Alpine Utility and the waist was wayyy too small! Both pairs are being exchanged. Too bad sizing is such an issue with MK, as you can tell by all the reviews. The material looks bomber and is exactly what I need to work in.

another fit comment

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I bought two pairs because I keep seeing and hearing from folks who love these. Original mountain pant in 40x34. Both were tight around the waist for me ? i have been wearing Carharrts forever and in the same size. So my experience suggests they are more snug. But then again, that's incentive to lose a few pounds!

From a quality point of view they are pretty awesome. Bomber canvas and nice details like the dual side pockets and one for a folding knife to slip in to.

Jury is still out on whether I'll stick with Carharrts or make the switch to MK.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Great pants! I am a farrier and as such am really tough on pants, MKs are great looking and comfortable pants! Only negative I have is the sizing can be a bit funky I have 2 pairs that are the same size but fit different. Still love them thou!

One of the pairs that never gets washed

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These pants, 30/32, in Yellowstone, are some of the only pants I wear. As a shorts addict, I've been shamed into wearing pants when near little kids in sub-freezing temperatures. And these are the pants I choose, almost every day. Thick enough to block some wind a stay warm, but ready for movement and the occasional ski. Paired with the mountain khakis blown glass belt buckles, these make perfect work to bar pants and travel wear.

Durable work pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Used these a lot last summer doing lift maintenance work at a ski resort- they are plenty durable.
I'm a big fan of the option of different inseam lengths- I went for the 32x34, 'cause I like being able to wear them with a pair of boots and not having the cuff ride up to my shins when I'm squatting down the ground working.
The gusseted crotch is key too.

I only own 2 pairs of pants which aren't made for skiing in- both of them are from Mountain Khakis- this probably says a bit about how satisfied I am with 'em

Well made pair of pants.

I honestly don't know what everyone is complaining about with the sizing. I took them out of the packaging the minute they arrived at my door with the thought in the back of my mind that they would fit too tight in the waist because of the majority of the reviews, but honestly they are true to size. I ordered a 38x30 and they fit great. I can comfortably move around in them and work in them. Look forward to using these for work all summer.
