Work-grade durability and high-grade comfort.

The Mountain Khakis Men's Original Mountain Pant doesn't fall in the the same class as other rugged work pants. Any guy from the casual skier, die-hard camper, contractor, or midwest rancher will appreciate the soft comfort and warmth of flannel lining. Mountain Khakis makes it possible for you to keep up the hard work and enjoy winter whether you're working or surviving the cold nights of a mountain town after skiing.

Love these pants! My go to for cold weather use when hunting, skeet shooting, or just hanging around town.

Great Flannel-Lined Pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The Mountain Khakis Flannel Lined Original Mountain Pants are the first pair of lined pants I've owned. After wearing them off and on for about 6 weeks now, I am a believer - the flannel lining in these pants is just the right amount, as it keeps you warm without being extremely bulky. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a warm and comfortable everyday pant. Fit is true to size.

Well crafted

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Nice looking pants that should serve me well this coming winter. I was told I needed to get some khakis for an upcoming wedding in Seattle. I also recall how much I wore my flannel lined jeans last winter. Why not kill two birds with one stone? The pants have a double front right pocket as pictured (freestone color), normal left pocket, two rear pockets, and reinforced heel cuffs. Good seam construction and comfortable throughout.

True MK Quality

Fit is a little big as the other reviews have described, but the MK quality is second to none. Picked them up for working around town in cold weather and used them all winter. Washed them a few times and they became even softer, but still maintained durability and did not shrink. 5'10" with a 33in waist and they were a little too big but if you wear a baselayer under them you just have to tighten the belt!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

I bought these for my dad because he spends the bulk of his time outdoors. He always wears jeans, so these were pretty revolutionary for him. He was dubious at first, but now wears them constantly. Great for winter months when working in the garage! These were a real winner.
They did fit true to size.

Washed and dried these pants according to instructions and they shrunk at least a size. They were also shorter in length than three other pairs of Mountain Khakis. Generally, great pants but every one runs differently in sizing.

Great Winter Pant

Warm, cozy and rugged- perfect for winter exploits. Definitely try them on before your wash them to ensure they fit right, as they do tend to shrink a little in the length. Overall high quality pant.

OK here is the issue. I purchased ( a couple of weeks ago ) a pair of lined and unlined khakis....the lined pair are way too tight - the unlined pair are perfect. Although I think the unlined pair will shrink after a number of washes...just a guess on my part. So here is the question: Can I exchange the lined pair - never washed or worn ( except for trying them on...( reciept is long gone ).....anyway that is the question.
By the way...nice pants. Thanks Doug Harty

Backcountry has an industry leading return policy (at least for the consumer). I've never had a problem with returning anything-even mildly used gear-and I don't think I ever had a receipt. In the upper right hand corner of, click "Chat Now," select "returns or exchanges," and you get a direct line to a guru who will tell you the definite answer to your question as well as tell you how to return/exchange them.
Also, don't be surprised if your next pair of MK's has a completely different size than either of your other pairs. Their quality control/sizing is all over place (some 32x32 I can't fit in and some are too big even with a belt), but it's totally worth it. Aren't their pants sweet?

MK Original Mountain Pant Flannel-Lined

Big MK pant fan, but not the fit. It's a hit or miss. I have 3 Original Pants of similar size but of varying fit. You're better off trying them on before buying them. The Flannel-Lined pants feels no different than the Original pants except for the soft flannel lining the inside. It's not too warm for spring or fall weather. I ordered mine one size bigger around the waist with my regular pant inseam--big mistake. I should've gone one size longer. Anyways, order at your own risk! Go up a size and length, if you dare.

I agree, I find the cuts to be a bit erratic...I have 3 pairs of the alpine utility and none of them fit the pair is over an inch wider in the leg than the others...whats the deal with that
