Roaming through the thickets and scrub oaks of the Rockies can tear a lesser pant to pieces, but the Mountain Khakis Original Mountain Pant stands up to the abuse necessary to hike, set up camp, and to gather firewood for your great campfire. The Broadway Fit has a low rise and a slimmer fit than the original with the same two-layered canvas, triple-stitched seams, and crotch gusset.

  • Double-layered cotton canvas fabric with triple-stitched seams provides amazing durability and comfort for work days or serious hiking and exploration
  • Diamond-shaped gusseted crotch, shaped waistband, and Broadway Fit (low rise, slim thighs and legs) yield amazing mobility for your outdoor lifestyle
  • Reinforced heel cuffs don't fray after months of use
  • Regular five-pocket design stows hiking and working essentials
  • Low rise remains comfortable and provides a casual look when you're not out in the woods

Great Pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Much better fit (Broadway) for us skinny guys than Carhartts. Tough fabric, reinforced stitching and gusseted crotch. Fit is true-to-size and they really didn't shrink much at all in a hot dryer. I'll definitely be ordering another pair.

Nice fit, but not as tough as thought...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I bought these pants a little over a year ago and have worn them casually around town since. I'm not a rancher or doing anything incredibly rough in them, just wash and wear around.
First, the good: They might be the best fitting pant I own, in part because MK actually makes them in a 35-inch waist. To me, they don't seem that slim, just thankfully not sloppy baggy either (I'm 6'2, 200 lbs.). They also have great range of movement from the gusseted crotch. The slant pockets are perfect as is the hidden one. I love the Ranch color, and the way it wears.
The 'could be better': Despite the triple stitching and 'overbuilt' design, mine already got a small tear somehow near one of the belt loops, and the stitching on some pairs can often be sloppy (see pics I posted). Moreover, the triple-stitching on the inseam can rub against each other until it starts to abrade a bit. Not that they're falling apart yet, but I have to think a double stitching that bites into the fabric and hides the thread from the surface more would be better (as is the case in other parts of the pant, i.e. back pockets, fly).
Overall it's a nice-fitting, functional pant. I just think they could do a better job with the construction. Also, a navy, and chocolate brown color option would be cool too.

Nice fit, but not as tough as thought...

New Favs

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These are my new favorite pair of casual pants. They aren't quite like a "skinny jean", but they have just enough style to make a fashion-challenged man, like me, look a little better than normal. Also, they are made well and fit comfortably.

Buy these pants if you don't have a butt

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

The original mountain khakis were perfect. Then they morphed into poor fitting jnco's, made for extra large mountain men. After giving up hope that I'd be relegated to carhartts for the rest of my life, I discovered the broadway fit. Not only are they properly sized, but they also fit perfectly if you're a skinny person who lacks a posterior. I normally wear a 33/32, but the 34/32 option fits fine right out of the box, and wouldn't fall down if I found myself in a situation where a belt wasn't available. My only gripes are that:
1. the yellowstone color sold out while i had one in my basket
2. backcountry.com only offers waist sizes, whereas mountainkhakis.com and amazon.com both allow you to choose waist and inseam, rather than just even numbered waist sizes.

Also, i'm 5'11", 160lbs and normally wear a 33/32 in pants if that is helpful for you to make a sizing decision for yourself.

Nice Pants

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

These pants have nice material, and impressive details. The graphite colors goes with just about every button-down shirt in my closet. Based on Levis, Bonobos, and Arc'teryx pants I own, I'd say the MKs run slightly smaller in waist and length, but just slightly. I look rugged and well dressed at the same time in these - I'm stoked. Oh, these look good with boots, too.

Only 32" inseam is listed. Is 36" also...

Only 32" inseam is listed. Is 36" also available?

Hey Setp, so sorry but it appears we are only carrying the 32" inseam variant at this time.

a new fave!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

got these for my hubby in the size 36, that's the size he usually wears and it fit like a glove, definitely fit like skinny jeans.
Got him the pine variation and it's a nice darker green, he loves them! super comfortable, tight but not too tight that they are uncomfortable.

Built Zoo Tough!

My husband is in charge of a zoo. He encounters things most don't on a daily basis. He needs pants that can take a beating...from being pooped on to fixing an air conditioner to driving the train to cleaning out the penguin pool and then heading to a donor meeting! These pants can do it all and still look nice at the end of the day. He will also take them camping and canoeing this summer in the Boundary Waters. He has had MK pants before, but not this style. This will be the style we buy from now on. He is 6' 215lbs and wears the 40x32. The slimmer fit looks great and the lower waist is less muffin top like on him. The Yellowstone color is classic. Great product. Great fit. Great service from backcountry!

Sizing question...

I am 6'2" and 170-180lbs and always wear a 32 waist with a 34" inseam in all of my pants made by North Face, Prana, or DC. Any ideas on the right size to order for these bad boys? I'm inclined to order a 34" waist and only a 32" length after reading the reviews below. Thanks for the help!

Responded on

I'm the same size as you- got a 32 waist and they fit good- snug compared to my other MK pants.

Love the OMP, Love the new Broadway Fit

For those of you familiar with Mountain Khakis know that the OMP is a great everyday pant. For a lot of people the wider cut didn't quite jive with their style- enter the Broadway Fit. Not a skinny jean fit by any means, just a little less boxy and more form fitting. If I enjoy wearing them, at 5'9" 180lbs, most guys should too. They offer a more modern fit that can be dressed up or down a little easier than the original OMP. Sizing should be the same as what you'd normally wear in a MK pant.
