Description

Go straight from work to play with the Mountain Khakis Alpine Utility Pants.

Two-ply threads, triple-stitched seams, and heavy-duty bar tacks create the barrier against dirt and debris that Mountain Khakis calls the Men's Alpine Utility Pant. With double-layer reinforcements at the knees and seat, the Alpine Utility Pant is as valuable to the working man's wardrobe as a suit is to an executive. Nothing you wear will provide the same quality comfort and no one will underestimate the choices you make with a chainsaw or a hammer.

Anytime, anyplace

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Teaching middle schoolers, upland bird hunting, at the bar or working at the house. These pants do it all. Super tough fabric and durable.

They fit true to size and while not the most fashionable pants out there, they make you look like a mountain man

Burly canvas pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have used these for rock climbing, fishing, hunting and just casually around town and the office. They are tough pants for sure, as they have not been phased by rock or grit or slime. I love the hidden pocket, behind the right hand pocket, which keep my license safe and handy when fishing or hunting.

Horrible Customer Service. Not worth it!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

I've owned a few pairs of MK pants and shorts. They are great at first. I haven't experienced tears on the outside of the pants, especially the alpine utility. The pockets however are not built to last. All my pairs have developed holes in the pockets. They seem to be made out of linen (which is great for comfort) horrible for durability. Not only that, but I swear they are on a timer. It's right as the one year mark (their warranty is one year) that they break down. Their customer service is among the worst of any company I've ever dealt with. As not to slander, I will say the few times I have contacted them it has been about an issue that arose post the one year mark. After that one year is up, they could care less about keeping you as a customer. I have pants and shorts that aren't pitched as "durable" that have far outlasted MK's. I'd say if your in the market for a new pair of work pants, don't buy MK's. Go with carhartt, much more affordable, and they stand by their product. Some people up in Jackson Hole are living large while their customer base slowly finds out how bad they suck to deal with. Save your money and frustrations, keep looking... I'd give them less than one star if that was an option strictly due to their terrible customer service. Furthermore, the few times I did speak with them they took their time getting back to me or not at all!

comfy and tough

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I wear these pants for everyday stuff and climbing,. Absolutely, no complaints! At first I thought the gusseted crotch was "too roomy" but they broke in fast and became my go to over Carharts when tough pants are called for.

I have purchased a few pairs of the Mountain Khaki Utility pant in the yellowstone color and LOVE them. I noticed in the picture of the Mountain Khakis in the granite color on here the pic looks more Dark Blue/Navy... and on the Mountain Khakis website the granite color looks more Light blue/Grey. Any clarification on the color would be much appreciated... Thank You!

I believe it is more of the Light blue/Grey not the Dark Blue/Navy! Hope this helps!

Just got these in the mail and it is grey/blue, definitely not navy

Burlypants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Have had a couple pairs of these and basically used to live in them. They hold up well and the gusseted crotch is great if you happen to be climbing on rough ass rock (j-tree in cold temps etc).

Great, sturdy pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Great all around pants. I'm 6'1" 175lbs and the 32x32 fit me well. A little on the loose side (as others have mentioned) but not huge on me and I like the freedom of movement.

baggy

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

this is a typical 'work fit' type pant. that being said they're very well built, but they're also quite baggy for my taste. i understand being able to move around though a good slim fitting cut will be able to move the same and you wont be snagging on everything from chain saws to bushes to branches, your truck or bike. need something significantly slimmer to feel like i'm wearing work pants that are a tool that work for me as well as last. three stars: good pants, not for me, objectively even a little baggy for utility - returning

Been running around with these for 8 years, they've seen 4 continents and held up amazingly well.

every pair is different

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

One of the things I like about these pants is that every pair is different. My first pair, ordered about a year ago, had the baggy crotch. After a few washings it became manageable. The best feature was the cell phone pocket....genius. Last week I ordered 2 more pairs. The one pair doesn't have the drop crotch which is nice but the cell phone pocket is utterly useless. It's impossible to get the phone in. The 3rd pair has a tighter crotch than the second and a cell phone pocket that is useless as well.
Whoever is in charge of quality control at the pant factory is doing a miserable job. Otherwise, I like the fabric, the fit, and the beefy build. They do last if nothing else.

Quality Heavy Duty Khakis

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had a few pairs of these now and they are great. The cut is full in the thighs and seat combined with the crouch gusset to increase mobility and they extremely comfortable pants. If your like me and are sick of the painted on skinny jean fad, these are for you. The fabric is heavy duty like other work pants but have a much more broken in feel right from the get go. They are great to wear in the evening when I get off the river, camping in the mountains, hunting pheasants in the fall or the in the backyard on Saturday when I am replacing sprinkler heads. What can I say I love these pants! I am 6' 2" weigh 185 and I like the 36 x 32 best.

Great pants...

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

...if you want to look like M.C. Hammer while you're fly fishing. I ordered the 31x30 and they fit in the waist but the legs are huge, the crotch hangs to mid-thigh and they are longer than 30" length. I'm kinda small (5'7", 150lbs, athletic build) but I've never seen pants that fit like these.
The quality is very good and I'm sure that there are some people that like or need gangsta' sagging Mountain Khakis. I have some cotton canvas Dickies that I bought at Wal-Mart two years ago for $20 that I like better than these.I just prefer a better fit.

Good all around pant

Like these pants a lot when I can get a good fit. 34x32 is usual size, and I'm 5'9" 180lbs. with adequate legs. I've noticed that the pants vary from pair to pair even though all pairs I own are 34x32. Pretty durable and only get more comfy with time. No need to wash after every use as this will wear them out pretty quick especially if you are using them every other day.

Tough.

Solid, reliable comfort for the job or hanging out.

Bullet-proof (almost)!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have owned these pants for 3 years now and I would buy another in a heartbeat but MK has made these pants so bullet-proof I may never have to. These pants have stood up to everything I can throw at them, even an idling chainsaw blade to the thigh (with only a small nick to both pant and leg ;-)).

If you are looking for an amazing pant that is strong, extremely soft, comfortable and can hold up to the test of time then look no further.

Best of the Best!

Best pants I own, hands down. Good enough for an outting on the trail, splitting wood at home, or out in town. Strong and comfy, material can take a beating. Construction allows for movement in the legs, which is hard to find in a pant if you have bigger legs. True to size in 34*34.

5 5

Heavy Duty!

These pants rock! I was worried at first about sizing because of some of the negative reviews but then I noticed if you looked the reviews chronologically you could see them getting more positive as time moved on.

I ordered my regular size, 32x32, and the fit perfectly. The material is heavy duty and could stand up to a lot of abuse. These are perfect fall and winter pants. I could see wearing them in the high country in the summer but they maybe a little warm around town.

These pants DON'T run small

So I'm totally frustrated and feeling really stupid for taking advice from random people on the web. These look like great pants, but I foolishly ordered them big after reading other reviews on this site. I ordered a 32" waist instead of my usual 30" waist. Every 32" waist pant I've tried on in the last 15 years has been gigantic on me and these were no exception. In fact they're so huge, I'm wondering if I should go for a 28" waist when I exchange them. That's probably a bad idea too. Actually, its probably just really dumb to buy pants on the web at all...

Great Khakis

This is my first pair of Moutain Khakis and I will be buying another in the near future. They are comfortable and very sturdy. I suspect I will have them for many years. They will only get better with the years. I highly recommend them. The fit is true to size.
