    Mountain House Garden Green Peas Rock!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    I take multiple packs of these peas on EVERY backcountry trip. They're a nice side or mix-in for almost all freeze dried meals that I bring (beef stroganoff, pasta primavera, mac & cheese, indian meals, etc.). 160 calories and 1.50 oz package weight for two servings. Add a cup of boiling water, steep for 5 minutes, strain and serve. Recommended.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

    I generally do the all in one solution. but there are times when a more creative solution is in order. For some things, there's no substitute for the real deal. But for corn, peas, green beans, you probably can't go wrong with the freeze dried veriety. They take up less space, weigh less, they don't squash and mash up in a full pack and they taste almost as good as the real thing.

    Good way to get veggies

      Very good way to get some greens on the trail. They cook up nicely and taste pretty good. I usually add slightly less water than the directions say because it always ends up too watery
