The best Mountain House breakfast

What's better than a hot meal while backpacking? A GOOD hot meal while backpacking-- first thing in the morning! I have been unimpressed (and frankly, grossed out) by the dehydrated meals with eggs (the breakfast skillet meal, the eggs and bacon, etc). But this is a really good, delicious breakfast that you can do hot or cold on the trail. For me, the serving size is perfect-- just enough to get you going and keep you energized for packing up and hiking out of camp. Definitely has become a staple of my backpacking adventures!

Blueberry heaven

Tons and tons of blueberries! I loved it and it's super quick and easy to get it going. No hot water, just grab your water bottle you left out overnight to chill and dump it in. haven't met anyone who didn't like it.

My favorite breakfast

I'm the kind of guy who would rather sleep than prepare breakfast. I think this is my perfect breakfast. For summer camping I use cold water, which eliminates the boiling water process. I just add the water and start chowing down. The food goes down easy and lasts long. It's a great start to a long day on the trail.

I love this granola with milk. flavorful and filling. I make sure to bring a bag every time I go out camping. Other granola with milk flavors are not very flavorful and other brands granola is flaky and pathetic. I highly recommend this one.

Hot or Cold!

I really enjoyed this granola, the blueberries are super yummy and really make this meal. I prefer the package hot but it was good cold too. This is a breakfast that is perfect for 1 person, filled me up and gave me some energy to start my day in the mountains! It's easy to make and is packaged nicely.

Pretty good stuff

This stuff is definitely pretty tasty. First time I made it though it was kinda soupy and it took a while for the blueberries and granola to absorb the water. Overall pretty good stuff.

Hot or cold

This is some pretty tasty stuff. It is good when cold, but great when hot. Nothing better than a warm breakfast to start your day.

First dehydrated meal...Wow

This was my first ever dehydrated meal years ago and I was not really looking forward to it. So with a bit of resignation I tried this mountain house meal and I was really blown away. Actually i started buying the same stuff at the super market because this was so good. It's very, very good and awesome if it's cold out and you're stuck in a tent because of weather.

Awesome When Cold

I defiantley prefer this cold. Super easy snack that hits the spot on a hot day on the trial. The single serving is pretty small and I found that its a lot cheaper to just buy these ingrediants at WINCO and put it together yourself. Tastes exactly the same and you make a ton of it.

Super good breakfast, not too raw

Good combination of tasty carbs, fruit, and milk. Enjoyed it with cold water from Kidney Lakes, High Uintas Wilderness.

with a little cold water this is a great meal. the milk was soaked into the granola and hit the spot.

Wish I could give this 6 stars!!!

I would eat this regularly for breakfast- very, very tasty! I prefer it cold. I only wish this came with 2 servings because it definitely wasn't enough for 2 hungry hikers. I like pairing this with the eggs w/ham and peppers.

A little too sweet

What can you say? Good ole granola with blueberries and milk. It's simple and easy to make. I like that you can add either hot or cold water.

Natural High freeze-dried granola with raspberry (or strawberry) is a much better deal, as you get over 50% more at the same price... and the taste seems also to be the same.

I'm a big fan of Mountain House, but when it comes to freeze dried granola, milk, and berry, I buy Natural High.

Quick and delicious, but pricey breakfast

If I'm not having farina for breakfast, I'm having this. The sliced bluberries are huge, dime-sized disks! The single serving is a tad small, but I'm not a huge breakfast eater, so for me, it's perfect.

It is a bit pricey for one serving, so I'd reccomend saving it for a treat instead of a staple.
