More taste per ounce.

Even when high up in a mountain camp or deep in a roadless wilderness, you can still eat like royalty with the three-serving Mountain House Chicken ala King. It might not look like much from the outside, but for just over six ounces you can have three one-cup servings of tasty chicken, mushrooms, and noodles in a cream sauce that'll quickly satisfy any hungry camper.

Mountain House Helper!

Mountain House meals are incredibly convenient when it comes to having meals in the backcountry. They are super easy to make and they are ready in no time! Personally, I don't add as much water as directed because I prefer it not to be runny like soup. Also, they are surprisingly way more filling than you would think! Treat yourself to some of these if you haven't already!

    Very filling

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had a lot of different Mountain House meals and this is the most filling for me. Serving size is 3, but after a long day on the trail you'll down this whole thing. It's super tasty, I highly recommend.

    Hiker helper

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I brought this Chicken a la King entree along with me on a 3 day backpacking trip into the Uintah mountains and it was the perfect meal to top off a day of crushing trail and climbing mountains. I split this with my homie after we got to camp in a worn out weary state, and it provided us with the necessary fuel to stomp out of the wilderness the next day. It is a 3 serving entree, but after hiking 10+ hours in a day it was a good amount for the both of us, didnt have to force feed or waste any of the creamy chicken goodness.

One of their best, but a LOT of food

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm a backcountry guide in Yosemite, and I do a lot of personal backpacking and climbing trips. Sadly, I eat a lot of these meals. I'm incredibly familiar with almost all of them.

I definitely have my favorites, and this is one of them. However, this is one of the few meals they have in this size that is 3 servings. Its nearly 800 calories for one person. Not a bad thing after a long day climbing. I usually plan my meals out for low mileage, easy days... and then long climbs. This is my meal of choice for a really long day when I'm getting to camp on fumes and I know I want a lot of food.

Really tasty. Creamy vegetables and chunky chicken. If you're not hungry share it with some friends or shovel it down the hatch. Packing it out is no fun!

PS. Its a little complex and heavy for high altitude. Above 11,000 or 12,000 feet this meal can sit in your gut for a while.

    Favorite Mountain house

This is my favorite dehydrated meal. It's very filling and has loads of protein necessary for recovery. If you're hungry you can definately polish off the whole thing. But it's simply delicious. If I'm doing an epic hike with lots of elevation, this is great for recovery because the whole meal will give close to 50 mg of protein. Simply delicious. I usually add slightly less water than the directions say to mountain house meals so they're not as runny.

Rather than write a small review for each individual item I recently purchased I thought I would share it all in one concise review. (Note with most Mountain House I add 2-3 oz less than it recommends)
