verastile

I have used this top from lounging around at home to layering for serious cold - this item is so damn versatile!

Pretty Solid

I went and hiked up Mt. Olympus yesterday and this performed perfectly. It is very thin so you get the breeze which helps cool you down. The long sleeve keeps you warm when some gusts are a little cooler. The fabric dries extremely quick which is also a major advantage. Bottom line if you want a lightweight performance shirt this is a great choice.

nice & light

Have 2 of them. Nice and light and silky feeling. Not much insulation. Best for hot weather. Only problem is that they retain body odor immediately and after wearing for a day even without sweating much you'll be hardly able to stand yourself. That said the shirt is easy to wash by hand in a sink while travelling or in a creek when hiking. Dries fast so washing it anywhere is not an issue.

What's the sale? It's the same price as the regular price.

Responded on

This particular shirt is listed as 'on sale' at $34.95, however this must be an error as it's regular MSRP is $34.95 as well. However it is 5 cents cheaper than the MountainHardwear.com online store which lists it at $35.

Soft Fabric

I really like this shirt. It wicks moisture well and has a nice and soft feel on your skin. I have worn it wearing heavy packs and it was comfortable on my shoulders. If the shirt does get wet it dries quickly.

The only downside is I question the durability. It has slight piling in the wear areas.

Lite weight and comfortable

Great shirt for a run. It light weight, does a great job wicking sweat and keeps me feeling light and cool throughout the miles.

Not Impressed

The Wicked Tee feels nice but it gets picked easily and smells funky after a hard day on the trail. Of all my hiking gear, this rates on the bottom. It does breath well but I would definitely recommend getting something else. The perpetual shirt by MH is MUCH better. I would recommend that or doing some sort of wool top (Ibex, Patagonia merino, or Icebreakers).

is this shirt good for insulation purposes?

Responded on

It really depends upon what you mean by insulation. Really, this is just a thin baselayer that will trap just a little bit of heat if something is worn on top of it. It breathes and wicks very well, and works very well under clothing that does provide insulation (such as a fleece midlayer or--on warmer days--even a softshell). By itself, though, it provides little warmth.

Responded on

I wouldn't recommend this for a baselayer. This shirt is very thin and wick moisture well but it doesn't perform like the top notch baselayers.

What is the UPF protection of this shirt?

This shirt does not offer UPF protection. Check out the MHW Cragger Long Sleeve (30 UPF) if UPF is a must.

Unless you live in the Pacific Northwest.

Lite . . . only part of the picture!

These MH Wicked Lite T-shirts are the best. Fit well. Wicking was perfect on a very rainy day on the AT recently. I wore this T-shirt under a fleece and never really felt any problems of chaffing/rubbing. When I arrived with my small group at our destination, this shirt took what seemed only moments to dry. When on a westerly rim of the AT as the wind blew against us, the last thing I needed was a wet T-shirt! The MH Wicked Lite T-shirt was dry! Comfort and protection were essential through these conditions; I received both!

You can find which colors are discontinued by going to "Select Options" above and looking to see which ones are at the discounted price (at this point, it appears that the Union Blue is a discontinued color).
