Thanks to Mountain Hardwear's Exodus Motive suspension, the Virtuosa Women's Backpack provides excellent support and comfort for an extended weekend of hiking. This Mountain Hardwear-exclusive suspension system uses Fit-Lock shoulder straps and hip belts that mold to your body without heat shaping. Lightweight Scandium tubing connects the suspension to the pack and creates flow-through ventilation matched only by external-frame packs. The Virtuosa Women's Backpack is ideal for three or four days of hiking and camping, and it weighs only 5lb 4oz (size medium). Once you get to camp, convert the top pocket to a shoulder bag and take a short hike to explore your surroundings.

Bottom Line: Hit the hiking trails with the Mountain Hardwear Virtuosa Women's Backpack, and find a new level of comfort with the Exodus suspension.

The supreme of backpacks and very high tec, the comfort is above other packs and only for the thru hikers that need the best on the trail. Price was a little high but that is a fraction of what it gives back to you on the trail for 3-4 nighter. Montain Hardware is above all with this product.

My backpacking/camping backpack is a Dana Designs (US made) from

My backpacking/camping backpack is a Dana Designs (US made) from 1993-ish. It's a packhorse, and can hold my entire household and 3 liters of wine comfortably backpacking in the Sierras. That being said, I've been wanting a slim, trim weekender-type pack. Designs have obviously improved by using lighter-weight, durable materials, streamlined design, etc. So - comfortable aside (the previous reviewer has convinced me it's good), is this a reasonable weekend pack? Seems like a great bargain.

Dana Designs was bought out by Marmot actually, not MHW. MHW packs are nice and I have seen good things about this pack, but if you want to have similar comfort to the Dana ou have Marmot makes a few women specific packs that are slick. Either one would be an improvement from your 15 year old pack. :) I have the Dana from about 98 and it is killer but compared to packs these days it is a dead weight! There are many packs on the market that would suit your needs. I got my wife the Quest & she loves it. I has a good suspension system, a bit larger, & more than a pound lighter than the MH Virtuosa. MH Virtuosa pack

By:
March 10, 2008

The pack comes in three pieces to enable a custom fit. The pack body, the exodus shoulder straps, and the exodus waist belt. It was not obvious how to put these together, and the instructions had bad black and white small photos. We finally figured it out, and got it together, and it didn't fit my daughter right. It was such a hassle to put together the first time, we didn't have the energy to do it again. We sent it back. It's probably a good pack, but we never got that far.
