Doesn't Keep Me Dry

I wore this jacket in a shower and got soaked. The fabric leaks so badly I just decided to take it off. I'm going to return mine for a different rain jacket.

No, none at all. It's just a shell and would need other layers beneath it for any insulation.

Whats the difference between this one and Mountain Hardwear Epic?

Hey Marek,

Thanks for the question. The difference between the Mountain Hardwear Versteeg Jacket and the Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket are mostly in the Dry-Q membrane that is included with the Versteeg which greatly increases the waterproofness and breatheability over the Epic. The cut on the Versteeg is a little longer than the Epic as well along with more pockets.

However, the Epic has a stowable hood while the Versteeg's hood is fixed. The weight is very close to the same between the two. I hope this helps you pick out the right jacket.

Is this a very lightweight jacket? I'm looking for something to wear over a fleece for near freezing temperatures.

Terry. This is a lightweight 2.5 layer shell. If you are looking for a wind and waterproof outershell this is a great option. If you layered with a down sweater or 300 weight fleece you should be comfortable down to near freezing. I hope this info helps!

is the hood helmet compatible?

is the hood helmet compatible?

Best Answer

szep. The hood on the Versteeg jacket is not designed to be helmet compatible. BUT, I have found that it works pretty well with many of the smaller helmets out there for climbing especially. If you are thinking of fitting it over a ski helmet it may be a little tight. I hope this info helps!

love it so far

Don't usually give reviews, but have found others' so helpful, wanted to say that I love this jacket so far. I'm 5'8" about 125, and the medium allows for me to layer something warm under it, and isn't way too long in the arm. Leprechaun is bright - great for biking.

So far it has been great!

Keeps me dry and blocks wind well. Love the Corange color! Fits to size. Yet another success by Mountain Hardwear.
