It says tht the footprint is cut specific to avoid water between the footprint and the tent floor. Is it cut smaller, or what? We often get wter between the footprint and tent floor( Not MH brand)

It is probably slightly smaller than the tent, mostly it is just not bigger, so that it doesn't collect water when it rains.
