For long backcountry tours on mega-deep days or multi-pitch ice routes, the Mountain Hardwear Men’s Synchro Softshell Bib gives you the breathability and stretch you need without compromising weather protection. The Conduti Softshell laminate and exterior taped seams seal out water while conserving warmth, and the adjustable suspenders dial in your fit. Water-resistant side zips dump excess heat on the uphill slog, and Ambush edge guards hold up to ski edges and crampon points.

Bottom Line: Built for the backcountry.

great range of motion, awkward to get in/out

Great breathability, range of motion for tele skiing.
Stayed warm, didn't feel like I was sweating.

With one zipper on right side to secure getting into bibs, it was a little awkward to get them on. Spyder makes a smilar bib with a side zip on both sides.

I bought these as a gift for my boyfriend and he loves them. He put them on and dumped his other ski pants in the garbage bin the very same day. He says they are light weight and super comfortable.

Great fit, poor breathability

By:
March 18, 2010

Let me get this out of the way first: These are not softshells. It even says it in the description, there is a "laminate" in the fabric. This is the definition of a hardshell, not a softshell.

I've had these bibs for a full year now and continue to be impressed with the fit and durability. However, I find them to have poor breathability, especially compared to other bibs that I have which can at least be honest and call themselves harshells. The main breathability concern lies in the bib part- my stomach gets sweaty in these. Also, the side zips only go from ankle to knee- worthless for venting. This would be a killer bib in a different fabric/laminate and with full side zips.
