Great light softshell

By:
April 2, 2010

I would agree that the sleeves are long - I have longer arms, and they're sitll a little long on me, but I like that. I'ts nice to be able to have a little extra length to keep your wrists/hands warm. The jacket is very wind resistant, although not too warm on it's own - paired with a baselayer, it's fantastic on cold days. I would say the fit is average to roomy - it's made to wear some light layers underneath. A fantastic value, overall, I love it!

This jacket it alright, I think it runs a bit small and isn't very warm. I highly recommend getting the hooded one, and ordering the size up if sometimes you are the size up. This jacket is also kind of short. The sleeves are long so you can cover your hands when it is cold, and they have an extra layer of fleece at the end to help with keeping the cold out as well. This is a fully waterproof soft shell, which is nice and different. If you are debating between this and one of the Arcteryx softshells, go with Arcteryx.

I have a coat that came to me by way of a recycle bin. It's wonderful but way past it's prime. The name on the label is Mathewson & Rowe. I can't find that brand anywhere. Do you know where I could find a new one?

MH Synchro Jacket

By:
December 31, 2007

Love it, love it, love it! It is a perfect light weight jacket that I wear around town and also while out running on chilly days. The jacket has a feminine fit that makes any woman look great. I just wish I had gotten the one with a hood and the pockets don't really keep your hands warm, but it shields wind great and the fleece lining makes the jacket warm. Packs great and love the black color.

Great jacket but...

By:
January 19, 2009

I loved this jacket...the style was great and technically one of the best out there. But it just didn't fit. I usually wear a small but neither a small or medium fit. The problem was the shoulders, it was just too tight. I have fairly broad shoulders but don't usually have a problem with jackets. Sadly I had to send it back (twice). If you have broad shoulders like I do, you might try the Marmot Gravity instead...fits perfect.

I really wanted to like this jacket. I usually wear a L, so that's what I ordered. It was way too big, allover. So I exchanged it for a medium. The medium fit better, but was too tight in the hips. So I went for a marmot softshell, which is a better fit. This jacket looks great, and the technical elements are great. For the sale price, if it fits you, it's a steal... but it just didn't work out for me.

Sleeves too long

By:
February 1, 2008

First of all, the jacket is gorgeous and I really wish it fit. I am pear-shaped, so I ordered a LARGE to make sure the jacket fit in the hips (I'm 5'6", 145 lbs). The jacket did fit perfectly in the hips, but the arms were WAY too long....like down to my finger tips. If you have this same problem, I would recommend looking at the Backcountry Shift Softshell Jacket or the Ibex Pingo Jacket. Both of these jackets (size L) fit me very well and were very similar to the Mountain Hardwear Synchro Jacket.

Great jacket

By:
January 5, 2010

Bought this jacket for my wife. Fit is great, more athletic. Can be slightly problematic if you have hips with curves. Very waterproof though, great for hiking and mildly cold weather.

Indestructible winter wear

By:
December 21, 2009

We do a lot of bushwacking thru briar, wild roses and brambel. The jacket is impervious. It does as advertised, wind proof etc... and the jacket is warm when layered with a mid weight performance t-shirt for winter use.

My go-to jacket!

By:
November 17, 2009

This is my go-to spring/summer/fall jacket. Perfect for biking, hiking, etc. Easy to stuff into a pack if the sun comes out! Just warm enough to keep the chill out on a cool morning. In the winter I throw it on under a down vest and it's perfect! Not bulky or restrictive. As a tall individual, I love that the sleeves are long enough (5'8", 130lb. and I got the small). This jacket renewed my faith in Mountain Hardwear!

loved it, but....

By:

Loved everything about the jacket, but the front is the same length as the back, and hence too long. The North Face Apex jacket has a better design and fit fit in that regard, and it "sits" better.

good jacket

By:
March 11, 2009

For days when it isnt too cold (down to -5C), it works well without any layering underneath. For a high impact activity like ice climbing, add a few long underwear shirts and everything is perfect (i have worn it like at -20C like this). I have also worn it skiing, layered with a mountain hardwear monkey fleece underneath. I was comfortably warm, but looked like (and felt) a bit like a marshmellow(not much room under for layering). In this situation, a hard shell would be better, but the softshell was good. In terms of breathability- A plus. In terms of waterproofness, also very good. Sheds light rain, snow-wet snow- very well... There is also a version with a hood. I think this would be a nice addition.

Softshell that is Wind/Waterproof!

By:
June 4, 2008

I wanted a soft shell that was actually waterproof. I had a Marmot before that looked nice but the wind went right through and it would soak through after awhile. The Marmot also started getting snagged from my backpack. This jacket is super soft and comfy to wear and all that I wanted: wind/waterproof and I think the material won't snag since it is really smooth. I got the brown and I think it is fitted very nicely so doesn't look like a men's jacket.

Mountain Hardwear Synchro Jacket - Women's

By: Backcountry.com Employee
May 19, 2009

The Mountain Hardwear Synchro Jacket is a very flattering softshell. The fit is great, I have a S and am 5'1" and 115. This is almost completely windproof and still breathes well. I haven't had a chance to test it in the rain yet.
