Don't get caught in the backcountry without an extra-warm down jacket in your pack. The Mountain Hardwear Men's Sub Zero Down Parka's 650-fill goose down insulation and hardy abrasion-resistant reinforcement panels will stand up to alpine-grade cold and abuse. A zip-off insulated hood gives you the option for extra warmth, and a Micro-Chamois lined chin guard gives you a cozy place to tuck your chin. Compress the parka into its included stuff sack and stick it in your pack so it'll be ready to save the day when it's needed.

Bottom Line: A parka that stands up to the most brutal chill.

Nice Parka

By:

I recieved the MHW Sub Zero Parka last week and have warn it almost daily. I'm not a climber or an athelete I'm a 50 year old man. I needed a coat to wear in the evenings to walk my dog. She isn't bothered with the cold where I have poor tolerance for it. I can wear this coat over jeans and a tee shirt and be warm enough. I've tested to near zero and been pleased.

What are the differences between Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down

What are the differences between Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Parka and the Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Down Parka. If someone could tell me what differs between these two jackets. Pros and Cons? Thanks.

Dennis F. The Sub Zero SL Down Parka is 1. Baffled like a sleeping bag and 2. protected from the elements on the underside of the outershell by a waterproof/breathable laminate called Conduit SL (hence the name...). The Sub Zero Parka is neither baffled like a sleeping bag (except in the shoulders) or protected from the elements like the SL is by Conduit. This is why there is a difference in price. The basic Sub Zero Parka does in fact have an exceptional DWR on the outer surface of the shell to keep light weather off but the fabric does not have a waterproof/breathable laminate. I hope this info helps!

Go Bears!

I wore my new sub zero sl park to the Bears Pats game. It was outstanding. The wind and the snow was blowing and I was very comfortable. It is the best parka I have ever had. The only thing I would ask for would be a heavier zipper. I have had a little trouble getting it started. Other than that it is an ultimate buy.

hello! What is the total length of this Parka, please? We are looking for a longer down jacket or parka that would go under man's butt. :o) That is impossible to find. The longer the better. Thank you!! Zuzana

Hello Zuzana,

I have checked the specifications on this Mt. Hardwear Subzero Down Parka. The back lenth is roughly 32 inches. To put this into context, most down jackets are only 29 inches long. So, this extra three (3) inches is signiificant. It should reach to the middle or below the derriere of any man who is under six feet tall. Also, this garment is a parka, and all parkas tend to be a bit longer than down jackets. I believe this parka will be adequate in length most men - and would come close to "covering a man's butt." I hope this helps you.
