    Innate versatility for alpine pursuits.

A fierce adversary against howling winds and less than comfortably cool temperatures, the Mountain Hardwear Women's StretchDown Hooded Jacket revolutionizes what it means to trek in cold temperatures. Designed for just about all of your cold-weather pursuits, this jacket features a lightweight and tenacious stretch-knit fabric that provides weather-resistant protection, which enables it to be worn on its lonesome or layered underneath a hard shell. Additionally, the Q.Shield down insulation is fortified with a water-resistant coating that safeguards the insulation from light precipitation, in turn making this jacket more versatile than even your go-to synthetic jacket. And perhaps the most notable feature is the stretch welded, channel construction that not only prevents blistering winds from penetrating through to your core warmth, but assures ample temperature regulation and furnace-like fervor, even on the coldest of days.

    New go-to jacket

    • Size Bought: medium

Pros- love that the color is matte. I dislike the super-shiny materials of many other down jackets. Perfect out in 25 degree weather with a smartwool layer underneath. Super stretchy is so much more comfortable to wear. Arm length is great as I have extra long arms. My husband and teenage son both complimented me on the jacket-fitted and not bulky is very flattering. Great fitting hood.
Cons- Wish it was slightly longer in length although it is longer in the back than the front. It runs slightly small so if you want a roomier fit for more layering underneath-I would size up.

    Not a Stretch to Love

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

First things first, sizing: I generally wear a size 4-6. The size chart told me to get a small, I did, and it fits perfectly.

Up next, stretch: I think this is a cool feature, and the jacket does stretch A TON and retain shape, but I'm not 100% sure the stretch it accommodates is necessary/realistic for common use. Not a negative, just not sure how functional it is.

I bought this to wear every day to work/around town, as well as to climb in. I've loved wearing it as I warm up bouldering, etc., but it's generally too warm to climb longer routes/hard problems in.

The temps have been around 30 F, and its kept me perfectly warm.

    very impressed

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

first, i have to say i'm a loyalist towards patagonia and marmot down jackets, but really liked the way the stone green looked on the site, so decided to give it a try (plus the sale from cyber monday didn't hurt). well, i absolutely LOVE this jacket. first, the color is matte, not like the typical glossy down jackets we're all used to. second, i love the stretch material (it's very similar to TNF's stretch thermoball). lastly, i would compare the loftiness/warmth to the patagonia down sweater with hood, except you're paying much less for this. i don't have any initial observations about it losing feathers yet, so we'll see down the road what happens. i've loved it so much i ordered it in two more colors.

    Wanted to love this

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

First off this is a great looking jacket and is super light weight and as is promised very stretchy. The reason it is heading back is the tightness across the chest and constriction of arm movement. The body of the jacket fit nicely the sleeves were an appropriate length but loose so you may get drafts up the sleeves. I'm disappointed in the past few jackets I have tried from Mountain hardwear they have changed the arm seems to a partial raglan sleeves which doesn't work for the female form. For the record I am wide shouldered and have 34d/dd breasts according to Victoria's, I am built like a brick s--- h----- very solid, so i may just be a tough fit.

    Revolutionary!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

This jacket is my newest winter staple. It is so warm without being restricting. The stretch down really is as revolutionary as it sounds. I spend my days giving myself big bear hugs in this jacket and being constantly impressed with how much it can stretch. The color, I have the scarlet red, is beautiful, but I've also seen the black and navy in person, and they're beautiful as well. The fit is amazing. I have big hips and I'm always worried about being able to zip up jackets, but the stretch helps this be a comfortable and flattering shape for just about every body type. Not your average "puffy jacket".

Finally, a down jacket that moves with you. I wear it when I'm out running errands, but I will admit, if I were to do anything crazy active, I would probably sweat to death. For normal use, it's great. Might not be the most breathable for long, strenuous hikes.
