On those perfect mornings where you wake up, and everything is basically buried in snow, you're going to want to put on your Mountain Hardwear Snowpocalypse Pants. These burly pants protect you from the elements so you can enjoy that fresh powder.

  • Highly breathable Dry.Q Elite gives you huge protection from moisture so you'll stay dry even if you're getting dumped on
  • DWR treatment
  • Inner thigh zip vents dump excess heat so you don't swamp out when you're working up a sweat
  • Internal gaiters stop snow from flying up your legs
  • Ambush edge guards protect your pants from getting chewed up

Bottom Line: So much snow.

The pros - this pant looks great, feels great, fits great (I'm 5'10" and went for a medium, regular length), breathes great for skiing and touring.

The BIG con - the pant cuff material used to guard against damage from ski edges is nowhere near burly enough. By lunchtime on my first day skiing with them, I already had two gashes right through both the edge guard material and the shell material beneath. I put another gash in them on my second day skiing. At this rate they'll look like swiss cheese by season's end. I've been in contact with Mountain Hardwear's warranty department but am not optimistic.

These pants are delicious. Not to the taste, but to the sight. I bought the bonfire color to go with my blue Snowpocalypse jacket and the combo is amazing. The orange color is slightly more vibrant than pictured, but not crazy hunter orange. I almost purchased the Botka pant with the Jovian jacket. The Botka is a great pant and the red looks really good. But this pant is slightly roomier and is more funtional for the resort skier (which is where I ski 90% of the time).
I'm 6'1" 165 lbs and I went with the medium long. The fit is great with enough room for my long underwear and no loss of range of motion. This pant material is slightly thicker than the Botka which I am hoping will handle more crazy crashes or, given the chance, the Snowpocalypse of my wildest dreams. Bring it on mother nature. I'm ready for whatever you can dump.

Please write a review after you have used the product, not just on how snappy the color looks.

The description mentions hook and loop straps. Are these pants compatible with some suspenders? Where can we get them?

rya. You know, I am not sure quite what they are suggesting with that description. The Snowpocalypse Pant never had suspenders and don't have attachment points for them anyway. They do however have velcro (hook and loop) tabs on the side that allow you to micro adjust the waist as needed. Perhaps that is the meaning. I hope this info helps!
