Mountain Hardwear Silvretta Jacket - Women's - 2009 BCS

Cannot go wrong with Mountain Hardwear most of the time. Yeah it is Conduit tuit laminate, Just spray with a big bottle of Nikwax. Bought this for the wife to ski in, had to be purple. She has her requirements, I have mine.

The jacket was okay. The Conduit fabric seems to be good quality, stretchy, not clammy feeling, love the color. The Zweld seams are interesting: shaves off weight, but not sure how it'll hold up long-term. I'm returning it for a few reasons. 1) The hood is ridiculously huge. The back cinch curves up diagonally, so instead of pulling the brim down closer to your face, it widens it. The flat brim (like a badly shaped bball cap) might provide for better coverage, but I don't want to look like a hammerhead shark either! That along with the fact that you could fit 2 or 3 heads in the hood, I couldn't get it to look right no matter how I played with it. 2) The pockets were a bit skimpy, especially the inside pocket. It's only good for tiny objects, like chapstick, gum, or a small mp3 player; not ideal for wallets or cameras. 3) MH usually runs a little tight. I'm 5'2.5", 110 lbs, usually between an XS (tight fit) and S (just right) in MH stuff, ordered a M in order to layer underneath... Don't order up! I'm swimming in it!! I'm not gonna try a S though b/c the hood is a dealbreaker for me.

I bought this for double duty as a winter rain jacket and a ski jacket. It has worked great in both rain and snow. Very lightweight and stretchy. Rain drops just bead up and roll off. Be sure to layer under it as it's just a shell!
