Give yourself a second wind with the ultralight, quick-drying performance of the Mountain Hardwear Men’s Refueler Short. This stretchy running short features a built-in liner brief with an antimicrobial finish to ward of funk in your junk. There’s also a security pocket for stashing your small essentials while you’re out on the trail.
i dig these shorts. they are light and fast. the material is whispy light. the liner fits so nicely i don't even notice it's there. the pocket is perfectly minimalist and can fit 1-2 gels. however i don't dig on the zipper. a friend got his jammed and couldn't get his electrolytes in a race.
bottom line: love these shorts because they are light and fast. i would only change the slit in the side of the legs.. it's too long and flies up a bit when running. and maybe the zipper.
Just got these yesterday and took them out on a 10 miler in the dirty hills. I have about a 31-32" waist and bought the mediums. They are a nice, quality, stretchy material that dries quickly. Great range of motion for my legs. The draw cord bunches up in the fabric when they are just slightly tightened up, but no real problemo.

I just bought these shorts in the titanium. Previous to this short I bought the Patagonia long haul runners. The refuelers are far and away better. 1. They allow for wider range of motion like in running 2. They are very light with a cool slight plaid print.
One thing to note is there are no side pockets but only the small back pocket.
On this note, the front tie is very short and there isn't very much string to make the shorts tight. I guess its ok since the one pocket is so small it wouldn't be enough to weigh down the shorts pulling them off when full.
Great material, really lightweight, and comfortable... I just wish they didn't have the liner. (Unfortunately that's a problem with most shorts of this type.) I'm a big fan of wearing my Ex-Officios with running shorts and it just adds another layer, though one that you get used to. Thought about cutting it out but the backpocket is part of it so that would render it useless.
These shorts were so great, I bought them again. I reviewed them last year and gave it 5 stars, and over the course of a year of wear, I still give it the same rating. I can never seem to have enough of these great shorts!
I've been looking for a pair of lightweight athletic shorts since my old pair of Nikes was worn out. After much searching, I fell in love with these. I am 6'4" and the shorts are a perfect length on me - a couple inches above my knee. They are lightweight, pack small, and haven't (yet) retained odor over several days use. The one thing I'm not crazy about is the inner lining, which I guess is popular, but I may just cut that out. The "black" I ordered is more of a dark grey. All in all, a great pair of lightweight backpacking shorts!!!
These are my new favorite running shorts. The material and cut result in a "don't feel 'em" experience. Like running naked, only without the arresting consequences. I like the inseam length, and the generous side-slit keeps them loose and breezy. They seem to always be dry - how can that be? I like the pocket, but I pretty much put stuff there, and leave it (key) - not sure about accessibility to gels and such. I also like that lack of side pockets - who needs those on running shorts. Another great, minimalist product from Mountain Hardwear.
I ended up returning these. I realize I'm in the minority, but I didn't like the cut and the lining wasn't comfortable. Bought 3 different brands, and my reaction was the same to all of them.
