Description

It's like it's not there ... but it is.

An all-mesh design and extra light weight make the Mountain Hardwear Men's Quasar Running Hat specifically suited for long runs. The cap breathes so well that you'll forget you're wearing a hat. (Until you realize how stoked you are to have a brim shielding you from the sun on a bright day.)

Mountain Hardwear Quasar hat

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

I would have liked to like this hat but the sizing was funky. It definitely runs large and I must have purchased the wrong size. I gave it to my brother and he does not wear it much either so I think that means that hat just wasn't that great. The red colored hat is spot on with picture.

Good for running, but...

It's a good hat for running but I don't get why the interior side of the bill is white and not gray. Hmmm. Also, this hat tends to hug my head a bit too snugly, sometimes causing me to have a headache. I love Mountain Hardwear's stuff but this hat, even though it looks cool, isn't one of the better MH products I've used. If I find that it breaks in and is more comfy, I'll come back on here and update this review. Three stars, which might be a tad generous.

very breathable, a bit thick

Very comfortable, breathable hat. I've washed mine at least ten times and the brim's still fine, in fact it still looks new: like a lot of MH stuff, this cap appears fragile but isn't. My only complaint is that the material is rather thick, even thicker than Nike dry-fit, for example--it breathes well and is light, but your head does heat up some beneath all that fabric. Still, a great cap for anything (used mine for running, tennis, gym, tackling the dog) in non-roasting weather.

good hat so far, but problems

so far, the quasar has proven a solid hat function-wise. it fits well and stays on even in windy conditions, but it suffers from a number of problems as well. first, the underside of the brim should be black on the brighter hats, but it isn't. second, the advertising for mountain hardware is over-the-top. don't know about you, but if they're going to use my clothes for ad space they should give them to us for free. third, the bill is the usual stiff cardboard, which means you can't machine wash the hat once it gets funky (which it will), and you can't fold the brim to keep the hat in a back pocket when you're out of the sun or indoors. taken all together the price is mighty high for a hat you can only wear one season.

Responded on

THANKS!!!! I liked the look but you are so right the logo is way overboard. I run about 5 times a week. My hats get washed one to twice a week, so bill structure is important.

Responded on

I have washed mine a dozen times or so and the bill has completely maintained shape....
