When you're heading for the mountains in sub-zero temps, Mountain Hardwear Women's Power Stretch Tights are the perfect warm base layer pants for your layering system. Providing the same warmth as midweight fleece, these pants are made of soft, fast-wicking Polartec Power Stretch. Flat-lock seams and a gusseted crotch make these pants very comfortable while providing uninhibited freedom of movement. Put a shell over these tights, and be set for the coldest weather you can find in the lower 48.
Bottom Line: A comfortable base layer for cold mountain weather.
I am looking for a tight to wear during long winter runs and crosss country skiing as well. Also, I have long legs and need to have a tight that will fit longer legs. Are these tights easy to get on and off even though they don't have a zipper?
I love these pants. They are very easy to get on: just like leggings. They're really warm: I don't feel the wind when I run in them and think they'd be perfect for cross county skiing. I will say that for long legs, you may have a gap between tight and sock when you run. I'm 5'9" and my ankles are exposed in these. If you don't mind that, then you'll be fine! They're super warm and comfortable and definitely a go to for me!

I bought these for a winter camping trip and I'll never go anywhere cold again without them. They are FABULOUS! Kept me warm and toasty at 11,500 feet. Best things around!
i love these pants for skiing and snowboarding. they have a high waist--which i actually love--because it keeps the snow off my bum. they are also pretty fitted but not too tight to be uncomfortable. the waistband is non-chafing and very comfortable. even if you pull it down to a lower level, it doesn't cut into you. i am 5'6", 120 lbs and a small is perfect. i should add that i've washed these probably a hundred times, and they're still in perfect shape.
I imagine these will work well when I go skiing up in WI for a little warm-up before going out west this year, which is ridiculously cold in January. I agree with another poster. I'm a size 10 pants and the medium fit perfectly.
I used to have the Marmot Power Stretch Tights, and I loved them, but I think I like these better. They're a little warmer and have a smooth face with a fleecy interior. I wore these snowboarding and snowshoeing in freezing cold weather and stayed warm, and sometimes I even wear them under skirts in the winter. I got a medium (I'm 5'4, 120ish pounds) and they fit a little looser than I was expecting, but definitely not too loose.
I am a size 12 normally. The manufacturer's size chart shows my measurements are a size 16, which is a large. So I ordered a large. However, the large is huge on me and I went back to a medium. Go by your normal size and disregard the mfr's size chart. These are great, though...super soft and wear/wash well.
I really like the Power Stretch Tights. The fit is great, and I can easily wear them under jeans. I get cold often, and these tights do help to keep me warm. They make great lounge pants, too.
I purchased my first pair of these tights last year and instantly fell in love! I'm a competitive race walker who works out during Wisconsin winters, and these tights have kept me warm and dry through blizzards and unbearable windchills. Worth their weight in gold!
I purchased these for cold weather running, and LOVE them! I sometimes even just wear them aroudn the house because they're so wonderful! These get an all around 2 thumbs up! I am a size 12, and ordered a large which is a *little* big, but not so much that they don't work for tights. I would likely order a medium next time just to compare.
