If you’re familiar with ultra-running championships, you’ll be pleased to know Mountain Hardwear developed the Women’s Pacer Advance Running Short for the Montrail Ultrarunning team. If you’re not familiar, no worries—you can just enjoy this short’s integrated, odor-control brief (so runners don’t start to offend themselves a few miles in), smooth, stretchy waist panel (no chafing with a lumbar pack), and secure energy-gel pockets (for those who detest lumbar packs).
Bottom Line: On pace, race after race.

Three small pockets lie in a row below the waist hem in the rear of the shorts. These pockets do not have zippers, but are concealed by a fabric flap over their openings. Essentially the darker waist band houses the pockets.

Runs smaller than MH Pacer (nonAdvance)

I had both the Pacer (5 in inseam) Pacer Advance (3 in inseam) in small. The Pacer Advance were significantly smaller than the Pacer, although both were labeled small.
The design is great but if you're in between sizes, consider ordering up. This Pacer advance is not very forgiving & is cut close.
For reference: I'm 5' 8", 135ish pounds, usually a 6 or 8 in MH bottoms, always a 6 in Patagonia bottoms, a 4 or 6 in Royal Robbins bottoms.
