    An ode to winter.

All that glitters is not gold, and if its white, fluffy, and wet, it's most likely pretty cold. Whether you're on a snowy walk through Central Park or traveling from Vermont to Colorado, this jacket covers all of your bases and can be easily packed into a suitcase or carry-on, making it not only a steadfast friend but a wonderful traveling companion.

Tailored to fit a woman's silhouette, this elegant yet pragmatic parka falls at mid thigh, ensuring that full body warmth without the bulk. The 800-fill Q.Shield Down insulation is a unique DWR treatment technology that is applied to the down filaments and consequently repels moisture, regulates your body temperature and keeps you unbelievably warm. Warm, not warmest

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Great jacket, it just wasn't as warm as I was needing it to be. I live in Iowa & the day I tried this on it was 19degrees outside with a windchill making it feel like 11. The coat was warm, but not near warm enough. Great fit, comfy & roomy. I'm 5'7" 150 & a large was roomy on me. This would be a coat I'd like to keep around if I was loaded with money.

    Not Warm

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I bought a size medium, I'm 5'4" and 130lbs- it fit very well even with a hoodie.
I live in the Chicagoland area and wanted a warm winter coat for the season... this coat just wasn't warm enough. I think it would be better for a milder climate, maybe 50s but it definitely wouldn't stand up to the 30 and below Chicagoland weather.
If you're looking for a non-bulky coat for mild weather, this could be a good option. If you want a jacket for weather below 55, I wouldn't suggest this one.

    warning!

The Nitrous Parka is NOT the ultra-warm, puffy, substantial parka it appears to be! The fabric is thin, with a little bit of down. At first when I felt how light and thin it was, I thought, 'this is not the parka I'm after.' I had ordered a size large, though, and had the chance to try it on OVER some of my other coats and jackets. For -30 F days, it might really help in that way. The good news is that its flimsiness makes it very comfortable--light and flexible. This will make it easy to pack too. The Nitrous is not totally water or windproof, but it is resistant to both. Also, the color "Steam" looked kind of champagne-y in the photo, but it is silver-grey. Think "astronaut".

    Fits well. Very thin.

This fits well and is flattering. However, for being 800 fill it seems very thin and I am unsure how warm it will keep me. I am returning it.

Loved the lightness but not warm

Got the zinc, XS (looking for a lightweight but warm jacket for traveling). 5'3", 110 lbs and the fit was more flattering (read, less boxy) than other down jackets. But when I test-walked it around the block in high 40 degree weather, my arms felt chilly. For this reason, I ended up returning this otherwise stylish coat and got the Arcteryx Nuri one instead.

    Just go this

I got the coat today in the mail and it was everything I was expecting. I am a classic universal medium and it fits perfectly. It is soft, light/ weightless. Got the silver color and it is a great color. Despite the 850 fill it is very low profile. Maybe on colder days I will layer under a shell but LOVE it so far, just what it looks like in pictures and very very well made and contoured

    Super-thin = bad winter coat

I liked the styling of this coat, but the first day I put it on to wear to the bus stop - a 55 degree morning - I was freezing cold, even when it was zipped up. I can't believe this is marketed as a winter coat - it is way too thin and feels like it has no fill at all.

    paper thin

I am usually a huge fan of Mountain Hardwear stuff - but this was a huge disappointment. Given the price, I assumed this was a seriously warm park. It is PAPER thin. Similarly styled jackets at Costco for $39 are thicker/have more insulation/are warmer than this one for nearly $300. I would barely consider it a windbreaker ... and certainly not a down parka. I was literally stunned at how poor quality it was.
