The do-everything, keep-warm jacket.

nice and slim
this is a very thin jacket, that being said it is really warm and it adjusts to your warmth needs rather well! Its nice snug and as with all MH products has a very nice athletic cut. it only has two zippered pockets for hands and does not come with a compression/stuff sack as ive found out. I personally dont brush up against anything that would put unnescessary stress on the fabric, cause i like nice stuff and i treat it very nicely. I personally prefer MH, and Patagonia products due to their high standards of quality and philosophies. prefer patagonia for morethe everday stuff like there pants and shorts and MH for their technical gear. This being said this is a very good investment aslong as your not careless with it. its not a shell so dont expect to abuse it and it not take some damage.
i got a 1L sea to summit dry stuff sack to store it in and just leave it in the pocket. its a tight fit but it works.
Nitrous vs Down Sweater
I really like this jacket. I'm 6'1 and 215lbs and the XL fits good, but a little baggy. Since it's an athletic cut though, it doesn't look bad at all. The Jungle color is a little darker than pictured and very handsome. I've got a lot of compliments on this jacket!
I also have the Patagonia Down Sweater in Fennel, and I like this jacket because A, the color is less obtrusive. B, the jacket is more breathable. And C, having the hood really helps to keep your neck warmer (VS having the Patagonia and Just a hat). The Patagonia Down Sweater does make a better pillow when stuffed into a stuff sack though. I'll attribute this to the wind proofness. I wear a large in the Patagonia and usually bring both jackets with me if I have any concerns about cold. The MH in XL fits over the Patagonia in L very well (this is also why I have the MH with the hood option and the Patagonia without.). This also gives me the option of stuffing both into a stuff sack at night to make the best pillow ever, or wearing one if it gets really cold inside my sleeping bag and still having one as a pillow. The nice thing about these jackets is that their weight is so minimal that it's no bother at all caring the second jacket as a precaution.
However, around town I usually just wear the Nitrous. Mostly because the color is less obtrusive.
Its really effective to keep warm，and very light

Warm and light
This jacket works extremely well as a mid-layer jacket and can easily replace two layers of Polartec. I was quite skeptical at first because other down garments that I have owned/borrowed have been really bulky, so I didn't think this jacket could possibly be as warm given how thin it is. It has really lived up to the description - keeping me quite warm at temperature down to -10F so far.
This jacket is great. I have used it in several different time zones and temp ranges and so far it has been great. Extremely light weight and packs down to a crazy small size. When I was home I pulled it out of a stuff sack before I went outside and my family couldn't believe there was a jacket inside.
The hood is nice because it is not massive so it keeps your head warm by not letting air escape. I bough an XXL because I have wide/broad shoulders. Upper body wise it fits great. I have to synch it around the waist to make it look like it fits me but it still works all the same. Definitely would recommend this to a friend.
Solid, functional, and stealthy.
The hood fits perfectly even without a drawstring and the top of the zipper near the chin and mouth is soft and not annoying when zipped or unzipped like most other down jackets. It's mega light and packable which is rad but about 50% or 75% the warmth of my 800-fill North Face down jacket. The Mountain Hardwearers simultaneously shed warmth and weight which jives in my brain. It would be bonus tracks (like on a CD) if it had just one zipper pocket inside but I haven't found that to be a big problem yet. It has now become my go-to jacket every day and I don't want to wear anything else. Not even pants. Just a heads up that I waited for this jacket to go on sale for $175 because it's not worth the usual $250. It's definitely worth all 17,500 pennies of the $175 though. Overall, awesome jacket but don't buy the black one because I want to be one of the few and the proud who owns the stealth model.
Soft n Toasty!
This is easily one of the most comfortable pieces that I have used. Incredibly lightweight, and the material feels soft against the skin. In addition to this although the jacket is filled with 800 fill rated down the amount of sewn through baffles allows for excellent temperature control, to help you keep from overheating. My only qualm is the exterior of the hood. I wish they would add a more water resistant material on the outer portion, as down loses all of its ability to retain heat when wet.
Will the hood fit over a helmet?
Will the hood fit over a helmet?
It might depend on the size, but my wife has this in a Mens M and the hood would not fit over a helmet.
if you get it size appropriate, yes it will fit over a helmet. mine does.
No front zippered pocket
Just an FYI. This jacket does not have a front zippered pocket or any internal water bottle pockets. The older version did however. The product copy needs to be updated.
