A velour face fabric gives the Mountain Hardwear Women's Mistral Fleece Jacket its soft feel while the wind-resistant performance keeps the breeze from stealing your warmth. Zip into the Mistral Fleece Jacket and wear it alone on a fall hike or cragging day. Zip-in integration lets you add this fleece to any compatible Mountain Hardwear jacket for colder, wetter winter days of skiing, snowshoeing, or mountaineering.
Bottom Line: Make backcountry comfort a priority by heading out there in your Mountain Hardwear Mistral Fleece Jacket.
When I first held this fleece in my hands, I was sure that it would not be warm enough because it was so thin. I was very wrong - this jacket keeps me nice and toasty! It also layers well. BackCountry shipped it very quickly: I bought it Tuesday and it arrived by Thursday.
Being a Mountain Hardwear fan for years, I thought I could not go wrong with this jacket. As claimed, it is really soft, warm, and comfortable. The first issue I had with it, was the shedding. BIG TIME SHEDDING. I bought it in red, and everything I wore, including my seat belt, was in red lint. I could not believe it. First time I had this problem. So I washed it, and it seemed to help. Also, I noticed that if I wore a short sleeve t-shirt under this fleece, the seams of the sleeves were a bit rough, not quite as smooth as I would expect from Mountain Hardwear. Overall, the jacket is very versatile, warm, and if you wear a long sleeve layer under, very comfortable. If you get this jacket, take my advise: WASH IT before you wear it!
What are the compatible Mountain hardwear jackets that the zip-in integration covers? Will it zip into the Epic jacket? I have this Mistral jacket and am looking for a light rain shell that this will zip into. Thanks!

I love this fleece! Super soft on both the inside and outside, exceptionally warm, cleans up nicely (though I haven't tried the white), and very cute. Also layers nicely under other coats for particularly cold days. I recommend it highly.
I have this jacket in Rhododendron color which is so good that I want it in a different color. I got the blue one and it's terrible. I wore it and rode in a car with seat belt on for two hours, and the lint is all over. There must be one oz of lint peeling off from the chafing of seat belt! I've been wearing my rhododendron one for months and never had such problem. Besides, the tag on the zippers are different. On my rhododendron one it's a thick transparent plastic tag while the blue one only has a thin string which makes it look cheap. I got the rhododendron one in REI. is backcountry selling fake stuff? I'm returning it.
Neither. This is just a midweight fleece, not waterproof at all.--------------------------However, it is called "Deflection Fleece" and provides a bit of wind protection due to its density.
I've used this fleece about five times for skiing (under a shell) and a couple of times around town. It's great- form fitting but not tight, toasty warm but not bulky, and super soft. Love it so far!
this Mountain Hardware fleece is awesome. I've been a patagonia fleece girl for years now, but branching out to this one was not a mistake. It is warm, very soft, and has a great fit. I HIGHLY recommend!
LOVE this jacket. I got it in Rhododendrom, and it looks great! I haven't experienced any shedding at all. The outside feels like suede, and the inside feels is very soft. The outside and inside are different materials.
I'm the one who's always cold and this jacket is super, super warm. I love it. Some people complain about shedding, but I've had minimal issue with that (I have the white jacket). Great for the cold. I recommend this jacket with no reservations.
This is the first Mountain Hardware jacket I have ever owned and it is wonderful! I highly recommend it. It is super soft and warm. It blocks out the wind and works under my down coat or by itself. I am 5'4" and ordered a medium. It has plenty of room yet fits slim through your torso adding to a more flattering fit. I probably could've gotten a small but this way I can layer underneath it.
I got this for my wife and she loves it, she want take it off. It keeps her warm and has some wind stop. She has not taken it in the train but I know that I will hold up to the mountain hardwear good name..
I love the Mountain Hardwear Mistral Fleece Jacket! It looks very nice, is warm and the wind deflection is a nice plus. The inner cuff adds a little comfort and stops the wind from sneaking up your sleeves. Fit is true to size.
I bought this fleece about a year ago, and it's the comfiest fleece I've ever owned! I'm 5'11 with long arms and torso, and Mountain Hardware never fails to fit great! It's very warm, soft, fairly windproof, and looks great!
