Perfect as a base layer, mid-layer or outer layer, the Microstretch may be the ultimate layering top.
Ideal as a base layer, a mid-layer, or a stand-alone lightweight jacket, you'll find a good reason to wear the mountain Hardwear Microstretch Zip Top every day. The midweight polyester fleece fabric holds warmth close to your skin, and the 12 inch center zipper allows you to dump heat in a hurry when necessary. Flatlock seams reduce chafing and irritation if you wear the Microstretch next to your skin and the high-cut collar provides a little added protection against the marauding cold. Mountain Hardware even included stretch panels under the arms and down the sides of the Microstretch to provide an unlimited range of motion.
- Stretchy, breathable Microchill fleece fabric
- Flat-lock seam construction
- Stretch panels under the arms and down the sides
- 12-inch center front zip

High Quality Midlayer
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
The stretch panels on the side improve mobility. The fabric is pretty thick, so it makes a good layer to wear over a base and under a shell in extreme cold or as outerwear on cool fall days. The collar is meant to be worn in the up position, and keeps your neck warm. It doesn't block wind very well but it insulates very well. I haven't worn it against my skin but the seams and zipper are high quality.
A very versatile jacket!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
