The Mountain Hardwear Men's Micro Chill Pant insulates you from cold weather and cold chairlifts while giving you freedom to move. These loose-fitting pants have a gusseted crotch, so they're easy to move in whether you're dropping a knee for a deep-pow turn or sinking your crampons in a frozen waterfall. An elastic waist and a drawcord hold the pants in place and won't cause pressure points when you're wearing a harness or backcountry ski pack.

Bottom Line: A warm layer that's light and mobile.

Grandpa Shmandpa...

I am returning this item. While the material is comfortable and the workmanship worthy of the name, the super deep crotch ruins it for me. As a previous reviewer stated, it's @ 18 inches deep (I used a measuring tape) and I would pull them up to my breast plate.....if I wear it where it normally fits it hangs down almost to my knees and then I have 6 inches of ankle material.....saddens me because I am so in the market for replacement fleece relax fit pants.

Warm and comfortable

I use these skiing on cold days. The big dumpy butt and lack of a pee-hole make using these underneath snowpants somewhat... strange. However, they are great pants. Very warm, and i enjoy the loose fit. Great for wearing around the house especially.

Worth the money if you don't mind the baggy fit.

Really strange cut

By:

I just returned these because even though the inseam reported by MH is right, the distance from the crotch to the waist is about a foot and half. To make these pants fit right the waist comes up to mid-rib cage. If I wear these with the elastic waist band at my waist the crotch comes to about my knees. The construction seems pretty solid otherwise, and I'm sure if you're used to wearing baggy pants these might be adequate. However, if you're looking for a heavy weight fleece pant to wear under a shell these will probably not have the right fit for that.

Best fleece pants EVER

By:

I have an older version of MH fleece pants and they definitely upgraded these in all the right places. For starters, they are super warm and super soft. They did away with the zippered hand pockets which makes sense, why would you need zippers on an insulating layer - there is a zippered back pocket just in case - the old zippered hand pockets made a lot of noise and were plain annoying. They also added elastic enclosures to the ankles to cut down on draft. These rock and are well worth the money - warmest and softest, I hesitate to wash them because that means I have to take them off for a few hours. I am 6'2" with a 32-34" inseam and I got a Large.
