Description

All about efficiency.

The Mountain Hardwear Micro Dome Beanie is extremely thin and lightweight. This makes it ideal for use under a helmet or hood. Made with tried-and-true 100 weight Polartec fleece, the Micro is super warm for how compact it is.

I love this beanie! It doesn't burn your head up when climbing or running, isn't too tight so you can wear it for >4hrs without ear pain and stays warm when wet. Very light weight and packable. The only complaint I have its that when it is cold and windy it isn't as warm as my thick wool Carhart but that is the cost of all the other perks.

love this beanie. its very soft and comfortable and wads up small while weighing next to nothing. I like to wear this at night in the sleeping bag when its cold, and it works well under jacket hoods too.

I was looking for something to wear when l go out climbing that would fully cover my ears and also something that would fit under my helmet without being to awkward, and this was my answer! Fits under all of my helmets comfortably and has the distinctive nut on the front to represent your favorite brand! They're so cheap l might buy another one!

The micro dome is a well made beanie that works great. Exceptionally comfortable, it is perfect to wear alone or under a helmet in cold conditions and provides excellent warmth to weight capability. Fits easily in a pocket to keep on hand as part of the layering necessary to adjust to changing conditions. Perfect for wearing under a parka hood as that added layer of protection for cold windy days on the mountain. I use it at night inside my down bag as a night cap, soft and warm, no bulk. Great beanie, great price.

This is a good overall piece of headwear. Very comfortable for waiting in the commuter line or the ski lift. If you have a huge head like me, it still has decent coverage over the ears (unlike most arcteryx caps that seem to run a bit small for me, and I like arcteryx gear otherwise). If you want full coverage windproof coverage over the ears I would recommend the MH Nakaya Dome. I think the Micro Dome is the most comfortable and reasonably suited to most conditions though.

Although this beanie is at the bottom of the Mountain Hardwear price range, it is an great buy. The Polartec fleece is very warm down to about 30-35 degrees and is extremely lightweight and soft. It is perfect for stuffing in your back pocket on cool/somewhat cold days. It fits well, but in windy conditions gusts can sneak up under the edges although the fabric does cut a bit of the wind. However, it is not designed to be windproof, and for that I would recommend a MH windstopper beanie or something similar. For the price, and for fulfilling its duty, i'd give it a solid 4.5-5 stars. Yes there are nicer, but they cost more. Overall, the Mountain Hardwear Micro Dome is a solid piece of gear for the money. I've already taken it on one excursion and plan on several more.

Regular. Despite the fact that the sizing chart has small, medium, and large this hat just comes in regular and large.
