The Mountain Hardwear Men's Micro Chill Zip T sports good looks and has a lightweight texture that feels like a cloud. In your pack, you'll barely notice this fleece shirt's seven-ounce weight. Under backpack straps, you'll barely notice it touching your skin thanks to flat-seam construction. The Micro Chill wicks moisture to your outer shell and lets air circulate, without compromising this fleece's thermal value. A long chest zip gives you extra venting capability, and a casual look makes this pullover just as suitable for the tavern as it is for the trail.
Bottom Line: The Mountain Hardwear Micro Chill Zip T has your back.
I like this light, comfy fleece shirt. It is very light, and provides a nice amount of warmth. It's a tad stretchy too, which is cool. The zipper catches a bit towards the top and a medium (which is my standard size) is a drop too snug for me (but I don't think a large would be appropriate). The value for this particular pull-over fleece is very good, so I am quite pleased I got it.
Though even the tags for this current model display a chest pocket, my sapphire zip tee did not include one. I suspect that it is a graphic relic of older models.

I bought this on clearance and it's been my favorite light jacket/layer I own. It's super soft and breathes very, very well! It also dries very quickly. The only bummer is, I was up camping and my buddy dropped some logs in the fire while I was leaned over doing something and it popped an ember out on my back. Needless to say, this jacket doesn't stand up to embers, so it actually melted to my back a bit, but we patched it and I'm going to wear it for years and years to come!
It's a poor quality item, and they slapped Mountain Hardwear on it. Opened the box took one look at it and sent it back. This is the second MH item in the lat 3 months that turned out to be garbage. I've lost trust in the brand.
I purchased this prior to the holidays to prepare for snow season. I have been very pleased with the performance of this shirt, then again we are talking about a Mountain Hardwear product...this should not be a surprise.
This pull over is very good when you're just cold, however, when it gets a bit windy, it's not that good of a windproofer. The Polartec Fabric is awesome though. Great for a cold run!
Awesome top which is typical of Mountain Hardwear. It should make a decent layer for the upcoming ice/alpine climbing season. I had some issues with the site sending me the incorrect size, but they provided EXCELLENT customer service and were very fast in sorting things out. Overall I'm very pleased with the Micro Chill and customer service, especially since I'm in Canada.
I have 3 of these that are a couple of years old. My absolute favorite shirts. However, this years version is significantly lower quality and cheaper in price. The fit is also much different - lower quality fleece and weird stitching. It is just not the same shirt anymore. Ah, I am afraid this shirt has been Columibia-ized.
This fleece pullover is very lightweight and keeps you very warm. It stuffs down to a small size which is helpful on backpacking trips were you need to keep the weight down. Overall great pullover.
I was expecting sharp, comfortable, and well made since it was MH (one of my favorite gear wear companies). I sent this one back to be honest. The shirt is made one size small, which is irritating for the customer when expecting companies to produce standard sizes. The stitch work was odd and irritating. The shirt however was in fact soft (too soft in my opinion), which means it lacked a backbone for times when wear and tear comes into play. I just did not feel like I was getting much for the money. But then again it was so stretchy that perhaps if I had caught it on a tree branch it my have sling shot me across the river, which is a positive. The different colored logo on the shirt detracts instead of enhances. Would have been nicer if they stitched it in the same color as the Burly Wooly pullover. In the crunch of winter this one would stay in my closet. Alaska winds would have devoured this shirt and not even coughed up the threads! Hmmm I may have pulled it out to go get coffee in town during fall or early spring, but since that's a hike.....I think not. Chuckle, not to mention that would have made one expensive coffee shirt!
