Purchased for myself for use as warmth under a shell. Not disappointed with the quality! Have not had a chance to really demo it yet as weather has been warm! Just moved back to high country from Florida two months ago and feel like I can't lose or be cold thanks to backcountry and mountain hard wear. Great feel this pullover! Can't wait for fall!

I Wear these frequently as a layer under a light jacket or as a stand alone shirt. Great, has a degree of stretch keeping it flexible, soft, warm and breatheable and just overall an awesome shirt. Wear frequently for camping, hiking and when cutting/splitting wood and even just lounging around the house. Thanks for a great product Mountain Hardware and Backcountry

    Great fleece

Super light, warm, good fit, and cool colors. Kept me toasty on below-freezing hikes under a thin shell, and the half-zip (though it looks a little silly) is great for regulating temperature.

    All around great lightweight fleece.

    (I'm 5'8", 150, and a small was perfect)

Mountain Hardwear nailed this pull-over. The size is true and the colors are spot on as represented by their website. This is the perfect layer to add on cold days or as a shirt over a tee on cool evenings. I love it.

    Great fleece

This pullover is very soft and comfortable. I wear it under my shell when I bike to work. The coldest I have ridden is 12 degrees. This fleece has kept me warm. I feel it is a little big though. I have an xl and compared to all my other brand xl's, this one is a little bigger. I still rock it though!

    Fits and feels great.

Very nice. Fit is perfect and it looks great. Keeps me comfortably warm in the cold and is nearly weightless.

This fleece is a perfect mid level choice. I have an athletic build, and this thing fits me perfect. Great taper to the waist, just the right sleeve length, and not too tight around the chest and shoulders. I find myself always grabbing for this fleece before I stop and convince myself that I probably shouldn't wear it AGAIN this week. That's probably a sign I should get more in different colors... Either way, great purchase.

This fleece is fantastic, it layers incredibly well and looks great. Pick it up on sale and you wont have any regrets. If you need a no frills nice looking fleece don't hesitate to pick this up!

    Hardworking fleece

I got my first Mountain Hardware Microchill Fleece a couple years ago, and it has been a constant companion traveling for work every week through the 2014 Polar Vortex in Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa and Connecticut. I wore it several times a week as a mid layer (over a shirt and under a 550 fill down jacket) and was never too uncomfortable.

After wearing it for pretty much a year nonstop it has begun to show some wear - it still looks fine for camping or hiking but not great for town...so I've ordered a couple more.

    Nice Fleece

Works well for what it is. Fits snug (but the dimensions were correct for me...5'7"/160 bought a M) and tends to grab any lighter layer underneath. Have used it for running and a midlayer for winter hiking.

    wear resistance

Wore once with a small day pack- walked for 1 hour. The product showed wear marks were the back pack straps connected across the front and on the pack were the back pack sits. Probably OK for normal light use but no good for back packing if worn on the outside

Bought this on a cool day in Santa Barbara. Just the right weight for a 50-60 degree day or as a base layer. Zip to vent or stay warm around the neck. Not restrictive at all. A cool breeze goes right through it, but that is the intention. I have done some nice fast hiking in it also and it breathes nicely.

    Decent Product

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a decent run of the mill product. Its mid-weight but not an advanced material, pretty standard microfleece. The zipper is mid-grade quality. The sleeve length is a little short for my taste but I'm a tall guy so the Large isn't as long as I would like it to be for technical activity. The shoulders are also more restrictive than other high-tech performance tops. Best application for this product is to wear it around town as casual wear as an alternative to a high-tech piece. Its cost is right where it should be and its a good deal on sale.

    Functional yes, great...no!

As far as higher end outdoor gear goes, I think Mountain Hardwear offers great value but I have never had much luck with their zippers. The microchill fleece is no different. I love the fleece. It's light weight, comfortable and wicks moisture really well. It offers a lot of warmth for its size. However, the zipper snags! It comes up to my atom's apple and refuses to zip any higher unless I give it some serious persuasion. I have had similar problems on their sleeping bags and another jacket. I do own a Trifecta shell that hasn't caused me any grief. 1 out of 4 items is not a good track record :-(

    McLuvin it!

Great for lounge, street, slopes, etc. Used it as base layer and pull over. As a base it wicks well and dries fast. Had it on a week long hike as my only thermal and it held true. Got two (still in awesome shape) and working on another...
