  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

First, I am, admittedly, a Mountain Hardwear stan, owning 9+ articles from them. I'm 6'2", 190lbs with longer limbs and broad shoulders. I find their cut to be perfect. I ordered the Large knowing that it would be slightly loose in the waist but the perfect length (I'm about a 34x34).

I ordered the Matterhorn as a more all-purpose pant- climbing, camping, hiking. My first test was about 30 miles over three days, mid-October Pennsylvania trails. For the range of conditions we faced- cold, hot, rain, boulders, brush... nothing slowed it down. I thought it was a tag pricey until I used it, and I couldn't be more pleased.

I particularly like the waist/hip lining which was comfy all weekend without the slightest irritation (as I watched a friend get blisters from his), the waterproofing exceeding expectations, and even with the waist being slightly large, I did not have complaints about the included belt.

Although I have little in the way of comparison, my intuition is that it is a great all-purpose pant with top-shelf fit and finish.

Great pants, legs too narrow.

Great pants, but not for my build. Pulls through my thighs. Lots of great pockets!

    Husband very happy with these

I bought these pants for my husband who is 6 foot tall and built like a Rugby player (we are Autralian). They fit his build perfectly. He said the fabric is comfortable and he recently wore them hiking in the Australian bush during summer and was able to zip off the bottom part when the weather heated up.
All in all he is very happy with these pants and I’ll be purchasing another pair of MH pants for him.

      OK but not that great

There are a few things I don't care much for. First off I agree with leg4686342 about the pocket design. The top pockets are awkward. I don't mind the zip pockets but they cause the others to be in a weird position. Another is the single loop on the left side. Why no loop on the right? They also have a very low cut at waist which have me constantly trying to pull them up.

Great material. Nice leg design and length. I also like the positive latch on the belt that is unlikely to come loose unless I release it.

Overall a decent pant but not worth $109.95. Good thing they were on sale.

Is the colour on the first few "detail views" the khaki? Doesn`t really look like the the khaki in the colour selection. I actually like the greenish colour on the detail views more than the khaki, is it possible to get that colour somewhere?
