The Mountain Hardwear Men’s Leno Shirt won’t get you your own late night talk show or cause you to suddenly grow an enormous chin, but it will keep you comfortable and stylish on warm summer days in town or on the trail. This UPF 30 wicking shirt features underarm zip vents backed by breathable mesh for added ventilation when things heat up. The Leno’s seams are rotated away from pressure points for comfort with a pack on, and the collar flips up for additional sun protection.

Bottom Line: A stylin’ summer shirt with covert functionality.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

great hot weather shirt

I live in the deep south and this shirt is just the ticket. Not sure about the vents etc but I have found the material to breath real well and feels nice on the skin. Don't know if I can bring my self to hike in it but I think it would perform as advertised. I usually fall between a L and XL for shirts and definately needed to go with the XL (Im 6-2plus, 215 lbs).

Comfortable? I think so!

I bought the green version in XL. I read the "bad" review of this and had to chime in. This shirt looks great, doesn't strain when I flex my muscles, and has really cool vents I just noticed along the sides. The fabric feels like soft hospital sheets. Westyrun2180898 is right about the lack of any moisture transfer... I don't think this was intended to be a performance shirt. It has an athletic cut: broad shoulders and trim around the ribcage (not tight).

Even wrinkled it looks good

I bought one a few months ago. Liked it so much I went back to get another, but they weren't in the stores anymore so I got one from backcountry for a cheaper price. The shirt has a wrinkled appearance but it doesn't look bad, I never iron and it still looks great.

Great for beating the heat

By:

Although this shirt has a few too many gimmicks thrown in, it performs all the basics flawlessly. Just to say it at the beginning, the zip up vents and pop up collar aren't the most useful features I've seen in a shirt, but MH made sure that they at least don't get in the way. The shirt is baggy enough that the vents aren't too noticeable when zipped closed and do provide a slight bit more venting when open. Overall though the shirt does such a good job wicking that the vents really aren't necessary. The shirt is really amazing in keeping you dry and looking clean. Too many wicking shirts dry you off but still manage to leave you looking wet and sweaty anyway. Not this shirt. Even in 120*F heat, this shirt always looked dry and clean and kept me feeling the same way inside. The lower seams do not rub when carrying a heavy packpack which adds to the overall comfort of this shirt. The material is super soft and comfy. It packs down easily and drys quickly. Great for backpacking or traveling light. I only wish they made this shirt without the venting to reduce the bulk. Overall though I would definitely buy again.

Runs a little small

I bought two medium size mtn hardware shirts on the same order and they fit very differently. The "Chaucey" fit well, but the "Leno" is a very small fit; short and tight. When laid on top of one another they are drastically different. If not sure of your size, go bigger with this shirt. Can't rate the performance yet as waiting for the exchange.

Not a comfortable shirt

By:

Head up: this is made out of nylon and polyester, so it doesn't feel good against your body. If you want something that wicks sweat off you and feels comfortable, get another shirt.
