The Mountain Hardwear Men's Interconnect Jacket is the hardshell you need if you can't afford to get wet. Made with Gore-Tex XCR, the shell is guaranteed to keep you dry whether you're ice climbing, skiing in a blizzard or just hiking for some turns on a mild day. The double-flap zipper guarantees you won't feel any drafts, and the waterproof underarm zippers seal out snow and open when you need to cool off. The Interconnect Jacket has a weight-saving Gore-Tex Paclite hood that you can roll into the collar when it's nice enough to wear a beanie. The interior music pocket lets you rock to your own soundtrack without worrying about ruining your expensive MP3 player. Cargo chest pockets with watertight zips are the perfect place to stash your goggles and a lens cleaner in case you crash.

Bottom Line: You'll never have to worry about the weather when you're in the Interconnect Jacket.

Great shell with generous cut

By:
March 17, 2006

I used this shell for spring skiing. It is a great weight. Light and relatively thin but with complete wind protection. For hot days you can wear a T-shirt and open the vents. For hot days you can add a mid layer. The jacket has a generous cut and long sleeves. I am generally at the high end of a large. I first bought the XL jacket, and the sleeves nearly came past my fingertips. I returned that for the large, and even the large sleeves are well past my wrist. There is plenty of room inside for a thick mid layer if you need it, making the jacket very versatile. My only complaint is the pockets are not very deep. For instance, you cannot really put a sunglass case in any of the pockets (except the water bottle pocket) as they are not deep enough. Overall, I really like this jacket.

gear for next year

Well, can't review what I haven't worn, and the Mountain Hardware Gore-Tex coat is for the 06-07 season, but the MH Gore-Tex pants worked wonderfully last season in -13'F on the lifts! Dry, simple layer underneath, and I was comfortable and dry. Wonderful! Bet the top shell will work just as well! Ask me again about mid-Jan '07!

Love the coat!

Took this coat to the Washington Coast with a pair of Gore-Tex pants and tested its metal. Absolutely no leaks in the driving rain and no clammyness on the inside. Design is nice also, although cut is somewhat athletic, so buy a size large if you are not 20 something anymore. Hood zips away nicely for a better day to day look. Hand-warmer pockets are great and lined with fleece on one side. Also, warmer pockets are down low, not up high like on some coats. All around great coat for storms or in the city.

Pretty good

I like the jacket, but the sleeves are a bit long and just an inch or so too short body length wise. Other than that it is just like any other XCR shell out there.
