The evolution of the Monkey Man.
Mountain Hardwear pretty much invented high-loft fleece with the Monkey Man Jacket. Its natural evolution, the Hoodless Monkey Man Grid is everything that the original Monkey Man was and so much more. The latest version has a grid pattern imprinted into the fabric that reduces bulk and makes the Monkey Man more packable. The zippered hand pockets are supplemented by a zippered chest pocket that keeps small items close and easy to access. Thumb loops keep the jacket in place while you pole-plant or reach for a hold. Most importantly, however built-in stretch panels on the sides of the jacket provide a nearly limitless range of motion, so you won't hear the heart-breaking sound of a tear as you lunge for that jug that's evaded you climb and climb again.
- Warm, high-loft polyester fleece fabric

great all round fleece
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: Runs small
first off fit. I put that it runs small but if you own anything mountain hardwear you know most of there stuff is a little smaller compared to some other brands. I still bought a small in this it and love the fit. The length seems to be where you'd want it. where I wanted it. not long enough for a climbing harness but I don't think you'd want to climb in this. I like how tight/ not tight the jacket is. It seems like another layer of skin. It feels close but doesn't bring out your not so fit areas.
Really its the stretch side panels make me love this jacket. It keeps the fleece close to your body, great rage and vents your underarms great. you can go from outside indoors and not fell like you just walked into the amazon. Its really really soft. Its not the thickest fleece so if you want warmer not for you. I wanted something that was warmer than my capa 4.
The only down side so far is its zipper. Is not the strongest. I would have put a slightly bigger one if I would have made it.
