Why We Like The Ghost Whisperer 2 Down Jacket

The Mountain Hardwear Men's Ghost Whisperer Down Jacket won a number of awards in the industry when it was first released back in 2012, and it has since become the gold standard in ultralight down jackets. Part of the allure of the Ghost Whisperer (besides its ridiculously lightweight design) was Mountain Hardwear's resolve to keep the jacket fully loaded with the proverbial bells and whistles, instead of just chopping features in an attempt to keep the jacket light.

The Ghost Whisperer is ideal for climbing in the alpine, long-haul backpacking trips, and peak-bagging bids where packing light and moving fast is key to reaching our objective. While we might typically reserve our down jacket for dry and mild climates, the Ghost Whisperer isn't afraid to get a little wet thanks to its nylon outer with DWR treatment that can easily fight off light weather. As an added bonus the nylon outer boasts impressive durability for climbing missions, and is made entirely of recycled materials.

I’m a she-ro

Thank you. The recent purchase was a replacement for an older version of the same jacket. My husband wore it to shreds. He loves it. Great Bday gift. I’m a she-ro.

Finally got the jacket that I’ve always wanted

I am so looking forward to using this when I hike the Appalachian Trail starting in February 2024. I’ve always wanted one of these jackets because of their warmth and durability!

Light as a feather

Got this jacket in black and LOVE it! Amazing how light weight it is yet keeps me warm in 20/30 degree weather. The zippers could be a bit bigger, they seem kinda flimsy and cheap. Overall great jacket to my collection.

Light and stylish

This is a very light jacket, and I mean that in a good way -- it almost floats away. Very stylish and I like the fit -- I'm 6'1" and about 165 lbs, and the medium fits me great. I like the two zippered pockets, although at least one inside pocket would be nice. I wore it in a light rain and it protected me well and dried very quickly. With a sweater underneath it's good for about 30 degrees and over.

Great Jacket with one problem

I really like this jacket. It is lightweight, keeps you warm and fits well. I like the longer sleeves that slightly cover the hands. As part of a layered system for keeping warm, it works well. I wear a wool base layer, nylon shirt, fleece jacket and hard shell in very cold and windy conditions. The only complaint I have with this excellent jacket is the tiny, somewhat cheap zipper. It is impossible to get this zipper started with seeing it. In other words, if it is dark you can't feel your way to get the zipper started. I wonder what will happen if I'm stuck someplace in the cold and dark and I need to get the zipper in place to zip up. I could be fumbling for a long time. Mountain Hardware - please make the zipper larger and better quality and you will have a perfect jacket.

Love it, it’s a favorite

Love the Ghost Wisperer coats. They are perfect for cold winter days and chilly summer nights. They feel magic and they store so easily and compact so small.

Love it; my second one.

My second GW, first without a hood. Love the fit although I’m a bit heavy and the fit is snug (expected). Perfect jacket for layering in extreme cold or standalone in chill and wind.

Warm, light and Packable.

Very lightweight and warm. Kept me toasty while backpacking through the Sawtooths in Idaho. I pair it with a GTX shell to stay dry. It packs down quite small in its stow pocket.
