Very light wind barrier...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

... However less breathable than you might expect. Pros: lightweight wind block; easy to stuff anyplace; big zipper allows a range of venting. Cons: expensive, when running in this I find myself with more on-skin moisture than I would expect. Neutral: mostly translucent.

This is the XL wadded up in my hand. You can put it in a pocket and not even notice it.

Great light shell

This light jacket goes with me everywhere. At less than 2 oz and packable in a size no bigger than your fist, you don't even know it is in your pocket. It is unbelievably light. It is great to have when running in cool windy weather or when a light rain hits. It is a great shell for backpacking. I would say it fits a little small. I usually wear a size L when I want a small light shell, but in this I feel more comfortable in the XL. At 6'3, 175 the XL fits well and is not bulky. In spring, winter, and fall this will be with me whenever I go out.

Fantastic.

I run and bike in this, and it's fantastic for both. Rode in muddy sleet for 15 miles, splattered it to to bottom, and not a drop got through. Warm and comfortable from the exertion across my core. It packs down super small, although I rarely pack it- it's always on!

No sign of wear at all. Seems deceptively resilient. Very happy!

Awesome Jacket

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have used this anorak mainly for cold weather cycling so far and it has done a great job of cutting the wind and keeping me warm. I havent been in any type of precipitation yet, but Im sure it will at least keep me from getting soaked. In regards to the weight; well you cannot beat it. There is nothing lighter on the market to my knowledge. This jacket would be great for a number of activities including UL Backpacking. My only concern with the jacket is durability. The fabric is very lightweight which decreases durability therefore increasing the possibility of tears and simple snags to become a huge problem. I also find the zipper to be a bit sketchy since if it ever gets stuck on the fabric it might tear it. Overall, I would highly recommend this jacket if you are in the UL rain/wind protection department or just looking to get a very lightweight windbreaker for running, cycling (mainly because since Mtn Hardwear isnt a cycling or running brand this jacket is cheaper than a lot of those "pure" sport's brands)...

As expected; extremely light, adds just enough warmth, wind and drizzle protection, extremely compact, fits in any pocket. Use it as as outer layer when running in cold. Great as quick layer when hiking and need some protection from wind and drizzle. Deep zipper makes it easy to get on/off and for ventilation.
