Take the storm unawares, not the other way around.

When you're packing the Mountain Hardwear Men's Ghost Lite Hooded Jacket your response to inclement weather will be a simple, "bring it on." Not only does this incredibly light nylon shell block gusty winds and shrug off fat rain drops, you can pack the jacket into its own integrated stuff pocket and slip the entire three-ounce package into your pant pocket. Just don't forget you put it there should a storm arise.

Garbage Bag Thin, and Still Does the Job

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I was looking for something light and compact that I could throw in my backpack for everyday commute and forget about until I needed it. This jacket fit the bill perfectly. Crazy light and crazy small when it's packed. In fact, just so you're aware, this thing is garbage bag thin.

On a sizing note, I'm 6'1 175 and it fits pretty snug around the waist, just like it should, but thought it was worth mentioning.

When it's comes to rain it does OK, but it really shines when it come stop wind.

Garbage Bag Thin, and Still Does the Job

    Great addition to my pack!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

This is an awesome wind shell. It fits well, packs down super small, and has a convenient stow loop (my pack has a compatible clip inside its lid). It blocks the wind well and adds a few degrees of warmth when conditions get chilly. I recently used it to climb Mount Washington when temps were in the mid 30s(F) with sustained winds of ~65mph. The only downside is that, even though Mountain Hardwear states it can "shrug off fat rain drops," it wets out very quickly in moist conditions. I certainly wouldn't recommend this for anything other than insulating, blocking wind, or the lightest mists of rain.

    Awesome Piece of Gear

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: L

Super light! Great fit for running and durable enough for trail running. I put this over just a long sleeve tech-tee and am comfortable running down to temps around freezing. Stops wind like a champ but doesn't breath especially well; which I remedy with a quick drop of the front zipper for a quick heat and moisture dump. Zip it back and it's all rock & roll again. The stow away hood is a nice touch, but it's not the easiest thing to manage on the run. You have to stop and take the jacket off to stow it. Not a big deal, just a nit. I've purchased 2 and might scoop a 3rd in case they discontinue them

Super light, great for mild elements

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Large

I needed a really light shell for chilly early morning and/or rainy runs. The Mountain Hardwear Ghost Lite Hooded Jacket fits the bill. It is so light, I can barely tell I'm wearing it.

It is "water resistant" so it will handle light drizzle well enough but probably not the biblical downpour I ended up in on my first outing with it.

Things to note: it seemed to run a little big. The XL was way to big for me and the L seems to fit just right. Also, the material is...shiny. I didn't get the black because I thought it would look like I was wearing a black garbage bag.

Runs Big, Very Shinny, Return Policy

    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: XL

This product runs big, I am six two 210 and I swim in the XL. The material is very shinny and beware that Backcountry charges you to return items so make sure you are prepared to pay if you want to try and get the right fit.

    Wind Be Gone

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: xl

I've only used this little beauty a few times but I can report that it was worth every penny. The wind is blocked, the light rain I experienced was blocked. I did not notice any excessive body moisture capture and the thing literally fits in your pocket. Even a shirt pocket and you don't know you are carrying it until you need it. I bought it to use as a very lightweight wind/moisture block for my hooded Ghost Whisperer down jacket and it is a phenomenal combination. No longer will I carry around heavy protective clothing and the light weight of this jacket helps reduce the wear and tear on my poor, tired, damaged knees. I feel like I have been given a new lease on hiking life with pieces of gear like this. Get this people, it is not a great brush buster but it is a great trail garment that will give you protection and a more enjoyable outdoor experience.

    Perfect lightweight jacket

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

I bought the green large jacket as a gift for my father, it fits perfect and the color is accurate to the one in the photo.

He loves it because its high quality and lightweight, he can store it in his camelbak (small one www.backcountry.com/camelbak-classic-hydratation-pack ) easily.

    Perfect lightweight jacket

Transparent and light as a feather, this MH Ghost Lite hooded jacket is just the ticket for keeping your down vest and/or coat dry in inclement weather. If you're a stealth camper and hunter like myself this jacket is just right! On the new and improved jacket MH has incorporated a "napoleon "zippered chest pocket for whatever fits.

    3oz life saver

This jacket is great from going around town on a cool fall day or a windy summit in the mountains at only 3oz there is no reason to not take it on your outdoor adventures. The logo on my jacket did ware off butt I got the jacket right when it came out so the problem might be fixed now.
