You're hiking a 14er and although the air is crisp, the sun is out in full force. Good thing the Mountain Hardwear Women's Futuna Pants have a UPF 50-rated fabric. Then the clouds roll in and it starts to drizzle. Good thing these nylon pants have a DWR finish. Then it stops drizzling and the left-over humidity is a bit stifling. Thank goodness for the soft, wicking polyester lining in these versatile hiking pants. Four-way stretch and a full-length inseam gusset help you maintain mobility as you clamber up the trail.

Bottom Line: The Futuna Pants are a good thing.

Very high-waisted

I guess I thought "low-profile welded belt loops" meant low-rise, but it does not. These pants rise up past my belly button, and have a matronly fit through the hips. Nothing wrong with them otherwise; they seem very well made. But I hated the fit.

Prana's convertible pant seems to be the only one for me. I've sent back five others now.

I'm searching for pants similar to the Mountain Hardwear

I'm searching for pants similar to the Mountain Hardwear Futuna but I can't stand low rise when I'm hiking. Do these pants fit at the waist? Can anyone recommend other pants that rise to the waist? I wear size 6 or 8, I'm 5'4", not especially full hipped, weigh 125 lbs. Comments would be appreciated.

Nice Pant

These pants are good for hiking and also look nice to wear out when travelling. I got quite a few compliments from other women on the style and fit. They are a bit thin and I have only worn them a few times so I have yet to see what their durability will be.

all around amazing

These pants look and fit fabulously! I normally wear an 8 or 10 and the 8 fit very, very comfortably. They are incredibly flattering and with the stretch they move well with the body. I've dressed these up and down, and they are fantastic on the trail, too! These are the best pants I've bought in years.
