From the Elmoro Shirt's ventilation panels to the crazy-efficient wicking fabric, it's obvious that this Mountain Hardwear shirt was made for aerobic athletes. Mountain Hardwear's engineers even gave this top a finish that repels post-marathon stench.

  • Synthetic body fabric aids the movement of sweaty moisture from the surface of your skin to the surface of the fabric where it can evaporate
  • Stretch mesh is strategically placed at the sides and the underarms in order to help ventilation
  • Seams sit flat against your body in order to eliminate chafing
  • Fabric has an antimicrobial treatment that fights off the bacteria that causes odors
  • Reflective trim keeps you visible to vehicles at dusk or dawn

Comfortable as hell, but very delicate!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I picked up a hyper blue El Moro on S&C mainly for snowshoeing. Wearing just the shirt with a pair of uninsulated waterproof/breathable rain pants in temps around 40 and with a steady, stiff breeze I was just right - not chilly from the breeze, not hot from the exertion of snowshoeing through mashed potatoes. You don't even notice the shirt is there, it fits so well. I'm overweight at 5'11" & 275 and an XXL fit perfectly without stretching too far or binding. The color is great, too.

My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that the hook portion of Velcro fasteners really tears the fabric up. I already have quite a few pulls in mine from where the Velcro strap keepers on my Camelbak snagged the fabric while donning the pack. In all likelihood this is just something one has to deal with with technical fabrics, it's not like the shirt no longer works or that I'll be wearing it out on the town. I'm curious to see how it handles pack straps in the long term, though. For now it's going to replace my Stoic merino wool shirt in milder temps, that one is better suited to <30F.

Consumer assessment

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I own this shirt and the Columbia Sportswear PFG Skiff Guide III Shirt. Both are very nice shirts but the Columbia is made better and made to last longer than this shirt. As awkward as it may seem it is true there is a quality of workmanship and material quality difference between this shirt and the Columbia PFG skiff. As a member of a family that own several dry cleaners and see everything in their shops I feel my assessment of this item is "very" spot on (heads up to anyone looking to buy. More expensive price tag does not always mean better quality).

Great all around shirt.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I got the XL size with body size of 6'2"- 212lbs, fits great and texture feel good on your skin. The shirt is great for a run or wearing around the house. I liked it so much I picked up two more. Well done Mtn Hardware! PJP

Wide Neck

The neck is a little wider than I normally prefer. The material is light and comfortable and will keep you cool on a run. I got the orange so I would be more visible on the road.

Mountain Hardwear Elmoro rocks!

This thing wicks moisture great and doesn't hold any stink. I think I'd have to try and offend someone by utilizing a can of fart spray for someone to be offended while wearing this. I made a mistake and used a backpack blower while wearing it and noticed a small pull on the back, hopefully it will hold up.
